Our Fable Once upon a time in a lush forest, inhabited by a very sedentary bear who was very fond of a thoroughbred white horse. They used to gather every weekend to tell each other their adventures. In one of their usual meetings, the thoroughbred horse worried, asked the sedentary bear how was he feeling. The sedentary bear replied him that he felt great siting on the sofa watching TV and playing games. After the bear’s reply the thoroughbred white horse told him. “My dear friend we are pumping machines that supply blood, oxygen and nutrients to all the cells of our body.” He followed, “ We as machines are almost perfect, and we adapt our physical effort depending on the intensity at which we are forced to work”. The bear quite interested, was listening to the horse story. The horse stated that when they are faced with intense activities they reduce the frequency of their beats in order to create a margin security that allow them to cope with the voltage limit. The bear was really amazed, and he asked his friend the thoroughbred horse what rate he though the bear would have. The horse answered him that the owner of the animal that perform regular exercise has around 70-80 beats per minute while a owner that performs extreme exercise like his own owner had around 60 beats per minute. The bear again asked why that rate difference, and the horse said that owners who do extreme exercise have a risk to reach a rhythm of 200 beats per minute and that rhythm can not be maintained for long time, so that the animal have to adapt and dwindle the beats to avoid collapse. He stated, “ for that reason my dear friend, animals that do regular exercise will have an average of 60 per minutes”. The bear said “ well 20 beats per minute is nothing my dear friend, so I will keep my sedentary routine”. The horse answered, “ well, my friend, but if you count your beats in a year time your beats will reach 42.048.000 beats while mine will be 31.536.000”. The bear amazed asked him the consequences of that big difference. The great black horse smiling, replied to him that he would have less chances to get a heart attack than the lazy bear that were always lying and watching TV.

Creation

But the sedentary bear, told his friend that even all these great benefits he would rather keep his good habits of watching TV and playing video games, because regular exercise was not made for him.Suddenly they spot a herd of animals running in terror. Within seconds the two animals were able to see a fierce hungry lion looking for prey to eat. With great panic in their eyes, they fled in terror. But as much as the bear ran, he could not keep up, because he was not used to regular exercise. His great friend the horse thoroughbred aware that the fierce lion would hunt down the tired bear, devised a plan. He knew that the lion did not train as much, as him, so the horse knew he could attract the attention of the lion to run behind the healthy and athletic horse and wear him down. So, the sedentary bear could have time to hide. Therefore the horse did not hesitate to star running in front of the beast to make him tired, and after half an hour running after the horse, the lion, exhausted, quit on the idea to have horse as a lunch that day. Short after, when the lion disappeared, the bear appeared crying thanking his dearest friend for saving his life. The horse gave him a big hug of support but at the same time added; “ now you know, that you have to do regular exercise, my dear friend. First, you will last longer because your beats rates are going to be less that your usual beats rhythm, and second because you can avoid being cached by a healthier animal”. The bear promised him that he would start doing exercise and the horse was happy for his friend’s wise decision.Moral of a fable:If you practice regular exercise, it will prevent you from getting great scares in your life.
