The City of Oakwood,Montgomery County, (Pop.9,200) is a predominantly resi-dential suburban communityimmediately south of Dayton,Ohio, and is currently acceptingapplications from experiencedcandidates actively working asa police officer and/or para-medic to fill existing public safe-ty officer vacancies. Oakwoodhas a fully integrated publicsafety department in which anindividual employee performspolice, fire fighting and rescueduties. In order to be consid-ered, candidates must havesuccessfully completed at leasteighteen (18) months of serviceand be currently employed as apolice officer and/or paramedicwith a state, county or munici-pal agency and have currentOhio certification. Candidatesmust be at least 21 years of ageand possess at least anAssociates Degree from anaccredited institution. Top can-didates will be required to par-ticipate in and successfullycomplete a series of oral inter-views, a background check,polygraph exam, and a psycho-logical assessment. The suc-cessful candidates will berequired to undergo and suc-cessfully complete a compre-hensive medical exam anddrug screen. The salary rangefor the position as of October27, 2008 is $27.88 to $38.40per hour, with the entry ratedependent upon experienceand training.
