FACTION ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
2019
PRINCIPAL’S PATTER
Hello Everyone
We certainly had a beautiful day for our Faction Athletics Carnival held last
Friday 6 September. It was great to see everyone working together to make
our Carnival an enjoyable and successful experience. The spirit of the
students was excellent and they are to be congratulated for the great
determination they displayed for their factions.
Well done to Walters for winning the carnival and big thank you to everyone
who helped out.
We now look forward to the Interschool Carnival to be held at East Hamersley
Primary School next Friday 20 September. Good luck to all our students who
will be competing.
Today the students in Years 3 and 5 will be bringing home their NAPLAN
(National Assessment Program in Literacy and Numeracy) reports. These
assessments were held in May this year for all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 in
all Australian states and territories. An information sheet for parents will
accompany each child’s report.
Enjoy your weekend,
Mark Cox
Principal

pay this as soon as possible, as the funds raised are used by the school to
support student programs. The P&C also has a voluntary contribution levy of

FACTION PHOTOS
S.T.E.A.M activity year 5’s
Students used recycled newspaper to build chairs as part of a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, maths) design cycle. These newspapers were left over from the competition we took part in to win money for our school. Instead of throwing these papers in the bin, the Learning Environment committee and year 5 teacher joined forces to make the
most of the opportunity. Students worked in teams to test ideas to support one of their member’s body weight. A student even built one strong enough to support Mr Croft. Well done year 5’s on your innovative approach and commitment to the highest standards of furniture design.
Year 5 Assembly item - 30 August
Students enjoyed an engaging & informative visit
from the Teddy Bear Hospital, a programme run by
medical students at U.W.A. which promotes health
to children in a fun and interactive way.
Students brought their sick teddy to the doctor & all
received & completed a Teddicare booklet.
