Request for consent to use additional methods for emission measurement (Government Notice No.
893 of 2013, paragraph (6))
Following discussions with your Department, SKYSIDE requests the use of the following supplementary
methods for emission measurement and reporting in South Africa. These methods are in addition to
those referred to in Annexure A of Government Notice No. 893 of 2OI3.
British Standard Methods
t. BS EN L479L:2O05. Stationary source emissions - Determination of mass concentration of
Sulphur dioxide.
2. BS EN L3284-I:20O2 Stationary source emissions - Determination of low range mass
concentration of dust (part 1: manual gravimetric method).
3. BS EN ISO 1,69II-L:20I3. Stationary source emissions - Manual and automatic determination
of velocity and volume flow rates in ducts (part 1 manual reference method).
4. BS EN 14792:2005. Stationary source emissions - Determination of mass concentration of
nitrogen oxides ( NOx). Reference method : chemiluminescence.
5. BS EN 15058:2006. Stationary source emissions - Determination of the mass concentration
of carbon monoxide. Standard reference method: non-dispersive infrared spectrometry.
6. BS EN 14789:2005. Stationary source emissions - Determination of volume concentration of
oxygen. Reference method: paramagnetism.
7 . BS EN 13649:2002. Stationary source emissions - Determination of the mass concentration of
individual gaseous organic compounds. Activated carbon and solvent desorption method.
8. BS EN 12619:2013. Stationary source emissions - Determination of the mass concentration
of total gaseous organic carbon. Continuous flame ionisation detector method.
9. BS EN 1948-1:2006. Stationary source emissions - Determination of the mass concentrationof PCDDs/PCDFs and dioxin-like PCBs. Sampling of PCDDS/PCDFs.
10. BS EN L948-2:2006. Stationary source emissions - Determination of the mass concentrationof PCDDs/PCDFs and dioxin-like PCBs. Extraction and clean-up of PCDDs/PCDFs.
11. BS EN 1948-3:2006. Stationary source emissions - Determination of the mass concentrationof PCDDs/PCDFs and dioxin-like PCBs. ldentification and quantification of PCDDs/PCDFs.
12. BS EN 1948-4:201-0. Stationary source emissions - Determination of the mass concentrationof PCDDs/PCDFs and dioxin-like PCBs. Sampling and analysis of dioxin-like PCBs.
13. BS EN 191L:20L0. Stationary source emissions - Determination of mass concentration ofgaseous chlorides expressed as HCl. Standard reference method.
14. BS EN 14385:2004. Stationary source emissions - Determination of the total emission of As,
Cd, Cr, Co, Cu, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sb, Ti and V.
15. BS EN 13211:200L. Stationary source emissions - Manual method of determination of theconcentration of total mercury.
16. BS EN 14790:2005. Stationary source emissions - Determination of the water vapour in ducts.
US EPA Methods
17. EPA Method 3L6. Sampling and analysis for formaldehyde emissions from stationary sources
in the mineral wool and woolfiberglass industries.
18. EPA CTM 036. Method for the measurement of isocyanate compounds in stack emissions.
19. EPA L6C. Determination of total reduced sulphur emissions from stationary sources.
