Eyebrow Transplant: What You Need to Know Before Getting

One

Your hair may be your crowning glory but your eyebrows are what define your eyes' beauty. Imagine not having them and you might have nightmares thinking of how embarrassing it is to show your face in public with that tiny, almost insignificant part of your face missing.

There can be a number of reasons how a person could lose his eyebrows. 1. Excessive plucking of eyebrows. 2. Too much hair removal techniques like laser and threading to reshape the arch. 3. Trauma to the frontal head. 4. Effects of some medical treatments like chemotherapy which destroys even your healthy hair cells and follicles. No matter what the reason is, it is important to regrow your eyebrow to avoid getting too much unnecessary attention from other people. Not all who'd lost their eyebrows are candidates for an eyebrow transplant. This is only meant for people who had lost their eyebrows permanently because of a disease, trauma, or from toxic chemicals. For people who temporarily lost their brows because of over plucking or with accidental shavings, waiting for them to grow back is a free commodity. Eyebrow transplantation is very much similar

with the principle behind hair transplantation. Both aims to regrow what is lost, but should have them in the most natural and instant ways. Hair follicles under the skin are responsible for making our hair grow. Each follicle contains the nutrients needed for a healthy growth of hair. In cases where the hair follicles are destroyed, the only way to make them work again is to stimulate them to facilitate hair growth.

This type of surgical procedure needs to be performed by a surgical team that specializes with eyebrow transplant. This is a very delicate procedure that will require the best skills and experience to achieve its success. To do this, hair strands, at least 350 of them, with the follicles

intact, are taken from the patient's head and are planted at the area just above the eyes. The patient only needs to have local anesthesia applied on the transplant area during the procedure. A slight swelling and bruising may appear at the skin underneath the brows. It usually takes three days to a week for the brows to completely heal and will need a lot of grooming and cutting as those are head hair that tends to grow faster and you need to have normal length of eyebrows. It should be expected that a month after the transplant, your newly grown eyebrows will fall out. You should not freak out or let out any violent reactions as this is normal. After that, new hairs will grow out of the new follicles that were implanted. Extreme precision of the transplant site should be prioritized as no one would want to have funny, lopsided eyebrows. Eyebrow transplant is for both men and women who wish to correct eyebrow loss in a minimally

invasive, surgical way. This procedure might be uncommon and would cause eyebrows (those who still have them) to rise, but it is the only possible way to regrow permanently lost eyebrows.

FAQ’s - Eyebrow transplants

Here you can find frequently asked questions and our responses. This list of

questions is updated constantly and extended.

1. What is the repositioning of eyebrows?

The repositioning means that hairs of the eyebrow can be relocated within the eyebrow area. New

forms and special effects can be reached in this way. Through the repositioning, the specialist can possibly influence positively the facial expressions and therefore let it appear younger, more open-minded and friendlier.

2. Does everybody suit for eyebrow transplantation?

The technology for extraction and transplantation on I-FUE method is performed with micro thin instruments and therefore very gentle for the patient. Complications are generally not to be expected.

Obsessive pulling out of eyebrow hairs (trichotillomanias)

Wound healing dysfunction like keloid formation

3. Are complications during the eyebrow transplantation to be

expected?

The technology for extraction and transplantation on I-FUE method is performed with micro thin instruments and therefore very gentle for the patient. Complications are generally not to be expected.

4. Does the transplanted hair remain permanently?

The result of eyebrow transplantation is a permanent and long-term hair growth. Just like natively grown eyebrow hair, the transplanted hair can shed from time to time and regenerate naturally.

5. Where does the donor hair get extracted from for the eyebrow transplantation? The extraction of the donor hair depends on the personal conditions of the patient. In case of a partial loss of only one of the eyebrows, we take the donor hair from the intact eyebrow and transplant them to the other, bald eyebrow. This reallocation of hair happens between the eyebrows. This surgical technique is quite young and performed for the first time in 2008 by the surgeon Azar. A double thinning of both eyebrows, due to genetically defects, diseases or a frequently plucking, can be treated through a possible transplantation of head hair.

6. When are the results of eyebrow transplantation visible for the first

time? The transplanted hair will start to grow shortly after the eyebrow transplantation. However, most of the transplanted hair will unfortunately shed between the 3rd and 5th week after the surgery. The asynchronous growth of the eyebrows will not start until the second month after the surgery.

Asynchronous means that the growth of every single hair varies. A strong synchronous growth of the hair usually does not start until the 5th and 7th month after the eyebrow transplantation. The final treatment outcome can be expected approximately 10 month after the treatment.

7. How naturally is the visible result of the eyebrow transplantation? The transplanted hair will grow naturally, just like the original eyebrow hair and therefore achieve very natural outcomes. About half of the transplanted hair will have a stronger length growth than the natively hair. This can be matched through cutting the hair from time to time to the individually

desired length.
