Make a pillow and a pair of pillowcases to match your Eye of the Tiger quilt from the April 2009 isssue of Quilter’s World magazine.
P I L LO W C A S E I N S T R U C T I O N SStep 1. Sew a C strip be-tween two B strips with right sides together along length; press seams toward B strips. Repeat to make two B-C-B strip sets. Step 2. Subcut B-C-B strip sets into (20) 21/2 " B units as shown in Figure 1.
Step 3. Sew a B strip be-tween two C strips with right sides together along length; press seams toward B strip. Repeat to make two C-B-C strip sets.Step 4. Subcut the C-B-C strip sets into (20) 21/2 " C units as shown in Figure 2.
Step 5. Join 10 each B and C units to make a border strip as shown in Figure 3; press seams in one direction. Repeat to make two border strips.
Step 6. Fold under one long edge of each D piece 1/4 " and press. Step 7. Sew a border strip to an A rectangle and add D as shown in Figure 4; press seam toward the border strip and D. Repeat with second A rectangle.
Step 8. Fold the stitched units in half, matching seams and stitch across bottom and up side as

Step 9. Fold the D piece to the inside and press, covering seam between the border strip and A as shown in Figure 6; stitch in the
ditch of seams between A and the border strip, catch-ing D in the seam to com-plete pillowcases. Press to fl atten seams.

Step 3. Join six B-C units to make a side strip as shown in Figure 8; press seams in one direction. Repeat to make two side strips.
Step 4. Sew a side strip to opposite sides of E as shown in Figure 9; press seams toward E.
Step 5. Join 10 B-C units to make a top strip as shown
in Figure 10; press seams in one direction. Repeat to make the bottom strip.
Step 6. Sew the top and bottom strips to the E unit referring to the Placement Diagram for positioning of strips; press seams toward E.Step 7. Sandwich the bat-ting square between the pieced top and the pillow lining square; pin or baste layers together to hold.Step 8. Quilt as desired by hand or machine.
Step 9. When quilting is complete, trim batting and lining even with the pieced top; remove pins or basting.Step 10. Turn 1/4" under on one 201/2" edge of each of the F pieces; turn under 1/2" again. Press and stitch to hem.Step 11. Place the F pieces right sides together with the quilted top with raw edges even, overlapping the hemmed edges as shown in Figure 11; stitch all around.
Step 12. Turn right side out through back opening; press to flatten edge seams.Step 13. Insert pillow form to finish. QW
