The companies say that the alliance will see Chemson take over the manufacturing of Akcros' solid stabilizer production, while Akcros will take responsibility for sales and marketing of the product range in the areas of flexible PVC. The agreement does not cover PVC cables. Both companies will jointly develop new products for the market. Explaining the new developments, product manager PVC Additives - Akcros Richard Simpson says: "Akcros brings its strong presence and technical understanding of the flexible PVC market and Chemson brings its core technology of heavy metal-free solid stabilizers along with state-of- the-art manufacturing facilities. This will give all parties involved access to new technology and wider experiences, which can only be of benefit to our customers." Chemson's executive director of sales Stephan Hilbert added that the strengths of the companies make a perfect fit. He believes that Chemson's global manufacturing presence and experience of formulating solid stabilizer one-packs combines well with Akcros' success in the liquid mixed- metals market. (Minmetals), have formed a strategic alliance to market antimony trioxide in the United States. Under the alliance, Albemarle will use its existing sales channels to sell BRIGHTSUN™ antimony trioxide produced by Minmetals' ISO9001 certified manufacturing facility in Nanning, Guangxi, China. Minmetals is one of the leading producers of antimony trioxide in the world. Albemarle adds that antimony trioxide is a highly effective flame retardant synergist used with bromine-based flame retardants such as Albemarle's SAYTEX® flame retardants, other halogen-based flame retardants and halogen- containing resins. Antimony trioxide is also used as a polymer catalyst for the production of polyesters. "The strategic alliance is a perfect fit for both Albemarle's and Minmetals' current businesses," says Albemarle Flame Retardants Division Vice President Luc Van Muylem. "It will bring more value to both companies' customers." Contact: Albemarle Corporation Website: www.saytex.com Minmetals Website: www.antimonytrioxide.com . ExxonMobil expands plasticizer production ExxonMobil Chemical has expanded its plasticizer and oxo alcohol plants in Asia/Pacific. The company says that in Panyu, South China, capacity at the plasticizer plant has been expanded to 90,000 tons per year of di-isononyl phthalate (DINP). Capacity at ExxonMobil Chemical's oxo alcohol plant, located on Jurong Island in Singapore, has increased to 180,000 tons per year of iso-nonyl alcohol. Both facilities have benefited from a series of operational improvements that have further increased efficiency and expanded capacity. Jin-Cher Tan, Intermediates commercial manager, Asia Pacific, ExxonMobil Chemical says: "This initiative will provide greater operating efficiencies to help us better meet customers' growing demand for C9 alcohol and plasticizers in the region." Oxo alcohol is a feedstock for the manufacture of plasticizers. End applications for the plasticizers include floor and wall coverings, wire and cable insulation, automotive and healthcare.
