IT has always been my mission toget the interesting stories fromcourt to the people because I amsure they would love to readabout what is happening behindthose walls.I thought that would also give

them a taste of what is happeningin court and in the process, maybe even discourage someyoung criminals from doingwrong. It has become difficult but I

keep on trying.I have always felt like I am

fighting the devil without aweapon. To get stories from the Bethle-

hem and Qwaqwa Magistrate’sCourt has always been a night-mare.I always go there without much

hope.If they don’t stop you from

entering with your camera, they

tell you that you need permissionfrom the accused if you want totake their photo. To be fair, I know that the

people in court are more educatedthan I.They might tell you about laws

that I have never heard of, but ifwe at all times have to ask theaccused for their photo, will it bepossible?Never. They won’t allow us to

do that. Asking for the photo of aperson who had raped a 2-year-oldchild. Can I take your photo forthe newspaper?

Come on, people. Please help usto make our job easier. We knowthat we do not have to take photosduring the proceedings.I know you might be too busy to

read the daily newspapers but Ithink the Sunday papers showphotos of people outside court.I would like to know how they

manage that – do they followsimilar rules?I know the Bethlehem Court

gave me the chance to take photostwice. Could Qwaqwa do this?Yes, they did once years ago.

What has changed?

Harrismith is a nice place. The hospitality there is over-

whelming. They give the media aroom to do their job in.I do not think they are doing

that because they are stupid. They know people want to know

what is happening in our court-rooms.So my humble plea to our

courts is this: Please help us tomake our job easier. We are doing this for our

people.I hope you cooperate next time.

I salute you, until we meet again.

ALFRED MOSIA, Bohlokong,Bethlehem:

THE day of reckoning is fastclosing in for South Africa’sruling party, the ANC.Even to the die hands the

writing mene mene tekel Upharsinis on the wall.Even people who were saying

they were aware of the mistakes

the ANC is making, but when itcame to voting they had nooptions but to vote for the ANC.After all, people do make mis-takes, eventually the ANC whichwill remain the only organisationthat fought for the liberation ofthe black man against the evilsystem designed by the whiteman. It will repent and everyone will

enjoy the freedom which only theANC fought for.Everyone of us who tried to

enlighten our people that the ANCis lying and that it is perpetuatinga policy of divide and conquer. We were labelled sell-out’s and

anti-revolutionary. Some people

had been kicked out of themovement and some even killed. But I want to be quoted sayingevil cannot triumph over truth.I have registered an appoint-

ment with the mayor of theDihlabeng Local Municipalitymany moons ago.I cannot recall the number of

times each day I go into themayors office with enquiries. Thereceptionist says “your appoint-ment is highlighted, sir, to showthat it is urgent”, but thennothing occurs.I met the mayor one day in

Bohlokong. He promised to giveme a call on the Monday, butweeks have gone past without a

call. I have since learned patience, long suffering and endurance.Hence, I am saying to all theresidents of Dihlabeng who are fedup with the ill-disciplined ANC-ledgovernment come forth, let us joinforces to call them to order. Theyare failing us so they must stepdown. The time has come and past for

the ANC to announce homeowners, in Vogelfontein’s,Vulindlela Extension. There is noprogress towards the completionof those houses because as usualthe ANC, conducts its business inan unorthodox manner. Watchthis space for your name, may bein the municipal elections.

PITSO MOSIMANE, head coach of Mame-lodi Sundowns, has termed football a “cruelgame” following Mamelodi Sundowns’ 0-1Telkom Knockout semifinal defeat toPlatinum Stars on Sunday afternoon. The Brazilians dominated the match, but

were undone by Eleazar Rodgers’ 50th-minute goal at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.Mosimane accepted he must carry some

of the blame, but also pointed to a numberof gilt-edged chances missed by his players.

“It’s a cruel game. One chance, onebreak, nothing else. They score and the restis history. I can’t talk about the chancesthat Mame Niang missed. Sometimes it’sdifficult for coaches. But what can we say,it’s our life, it’s our job, we need to absorbit and start again,” Mosimane said.“At the end of the day I have to take
