Expressionism
• Started in Germany- group of artists that passionately believe art should be more about expressing feelings than images of the real world.
• Two groups: Die Brüke, Der Blaue Reiter.
Die Brüke
• Revival of graphic arts, especially in woodcuts. The black and white contrasts aided in the dramatic emotion, especially of the time of war, post war.

• Founded by Wassily Kandinsky ( after his “Blue Rider” painting). Focused more on color
