    The Export to Google Earth addin can export items such as sites, transmitters, microwave links, their properties, and

    coveragepredictionplotsfromAtollsingleRATandmultiRATdocumentstoGoogleEarth.

    TheExporttoGoogleEarthaddinisdevelopedbyForskusingthestandardAtollAPI.Itisavailableondemandandcanbe

    usedwithAtollversion2.5.2andlater.

    2 InstallingtheExporttoGoogleEarthAddin

    InstallingtheAddinSeparatelyFromAtoll

    Toinstalltheaddinusingtheaddinsownsetupprogram:

    1. Runtheaddinssetupprogram.

    2. Selectaninstallationfolderfortheaddin.ItisnotnecessarytoinstalltheaddinintheAtollinstallationdirectory.

    3. Specifywhethertheinstallationshouldonlybeperformedinthecurrentuserprofileorforallusers.

    4. ClickNext.Theaddinisinstalled.

    5. Oncetheinstallationiscomplete,clickClosetoexitthesetup.

    RepairingtheAlreadyInstalledAddin

    The addins setup program allows you to repair the alreadyinstalled addin by reinstalling it using the installation

    parametersthatyoudefinedwheninstallingitthefirsttime.

    Torepairthealreadyinstalledaddin:

    1. Runtheaddinssetupprogram.

    2. SelectRepairExporttoGoogleEarth.

    3. ClickFinish.Theaddinisinstalledagainusingtheinstallationparametersthatyoudefinedwheninstallingtheaddin

    thefirsttime.

    UninstallingtheAddin

    Touninstalltheaddin:

    1. Runtheaddinssetupprogram.

    2. SelectRemoveExporttoGoogleEarth.

    3. ClickFinish.Theaddinisuninstalled.

    YoucanalsouninstalltheaddinthroughWindowsControlPanel.

    3 Activatingand

    Deactivating

    the

    Add

    in

    in

    Atoll

    Onceinstalled,theaddinisavailableinthelistofaddinsinstalledwithAtoll.

    ThesetupprogramoftheExporttoGoogleEarthaddinissuppliedinboth:

    a32bitversionforAtoll32bit:"ExportToGoogleEarth.msi",and

    a64bitversionforAtoll64bit:"ExportToGoogleEarth_x64.msi"

    Beforeinstallingthe64bitversionofthisaddin,makesurethatAtoll64bitisinstalled

    correctly.Formoreinformation,seetheAtollAdministratorManual.

    ThesetupofAtoll3.1.0andlaterincludestheExporttoGoogleEarthaddin,whichcan

    beinstalled

    at

    the

    same

    time

    as

    Atoll.

    You

    can,

    ifyou

    wish,

    install

    the

    add

    in

    separately

    fromAtollusingtheaddinsownsetupprogram.

    Incaseyouareinstallinganewversionofthisaddin,uninstallthecurrentversionbefore

    youinstallthenewone.

    ToactivatetheaddininAtoll:

    1. SelectTools >AddinsandMacrosfromthemenubar.TheAddinsandMacrosdialogboxappears.

    2. SelecttheGoogleEarthAddinClasscheckbox.

    3. ClickClose.TheExporttoGoogleEarthaddinicon isavailableintheAddintoolbar.

    YoucanverifytheinstallationdetailsoftheaddinbyclickingtheDetailsbuttonintheAddinsandMacrosdialogbox.

    YoucandeactivatetheaddinintheAddinsandMacrosdialogbox.Forexample,ifyoucleartheGoogleEarthAddinClass

    checkboxinthisdialogbox,theExporttoGoogleEarthaddinicon willnolongerbeavailableintheAddintoolbar.

    4 Usingthe

    Export

    to

    Google

    Earth

    Add

    in

    Oncetheaddinisinstalled,theExporttoGoogleEarthaddinicon isavailableinAtoll.YouhavetoinstallGoogleEarth

    beforeusingtheExporttoGoogleEarthaddininAtoll.

    ToruntheExporttoGoogleEarthaddin:

    1. ClicktheExporttoGoogleEarthaddinicon intheAddintoolbar.TheExporttoGoogleEarthdialogboxappears

    (seeFigure 2

    on

    page 5).

    2. Select

    the

    items

    to

    export

    to

    Google

    Earth: Sites:SelectthischeckboxtoexportthesitelocationsandheightstoGoogleEarth.

    YoucanexportothersitepropertiestoGoogleEarthaswell.Formoreinformation,seestep 3.

    YoucanchoosetoexportthesitealtitudesasAbsolutevaluesorRelativetotheGround.

    TheTerrain layershouldbeactive inGoogleEarth.Otherwise,theheight information

    exported by the Export to Google Earth addin will not be correctly interpreted by

    GoogleEarth.

    Transmitters:Selectthischeckboxtoexportthetransmitterheights,mechanicalandelectricalazimuths,antenna

    beamwidths,mechanicaltilts,andactivitystatusestoGoogleEarth.

    YoucanexportothertransmitterpropertiestoGoogleEarthaswell.Formoreinformation,seestep 3.

    IfyouareworkingonaMultiRATdocument,youcanselecttransmittersofeachtechnologyandtheirproperties

    separately.

    MicrowaveLinks:SelectthischeckboxtoexportthemicrowavelinkheightsandactivitystatusestoGoogleEarth.

    YoucanexportothermicrowavelinkpropertiestoGoogleEarthaswell.Formoreinformation,seestep 3.

    FresnelEllipsoid:SelectthecheckboxifyouwanttheaddintogenerateandexportFresnelellipsoidstoGoogle

    Earthfortheexportedmicrowavelinks.

    OtherLinks:Selectthischeckboxtoexportotherlinks(FOand/orLL)propertiestoGoogleEarth.

    CoveragePlots:Select thecoveragepredictionplots toexporttoGoogleEarth.The listcontainsall theplots

    availableinthePredictionsfolderforthecurrentAtolldocument.

    Bydefault,

    coverage

    plots

    are

    exported

    in

    raster

    format.

    You

    can

    also

    export

    them

    in

    vector

    format.

    To

    do

    that,

    rightclickonthecoverageplotyouwantandselectVectorFormatinthecontextmenu.Youcangobacktoraster

    formatbyselectingRasterFormat.

    3. Selectsite,transmitter,andmicrowavelinkpropertiestoexporttoGoogleEarth:

    a. ClicktheBrowsebuttonnexttothePropertiesboxcorrespondingtoSites,Transmitters,orMicrowaveLinks.The

    Selectionoffieldsdialogboxappears(seeFigure 3).

    b. Selectthefieldsyouwanttoexport.

    Toselectafieldtobeexported,selectthefield intheAvailablefields listandclick tomove ittothe

    Selectedfieldslist.

    ToremoveafieldfromtheSelectedfieldslist,selectthefieldandclick toremoveitfromtheSelected

    fieldslist.

    Tochangetheorderofthefields,selectoneormorefieldsintheSelectedfieldslistandclick or tomove

    themupordowninthelist.TheexportedpropertieswillbesortedintheorderofthefieldsintheSelected

    fieldslist,fromtoptobottom.

    c. ClickOK.

    4. InSaveas,enterthenameandlocationfortheGoogleEarthexportdatastoragefilecreatedbytheaddin.

    Whenyouexportsitealtitudesasrelativetotheground,thealtitudesoftransmittersare

    alsoexportedasrelativetothegroundand,therefore,dependonthetopologyofthe

    map.

    KMZfilesarecompressedarchivesthatincludetheKMLfilecontainingsite,transmitter,

    data,

    as

    well

    as

    the

    coverage

    prediction

    format. You can open KMZ files and access their contents in most compression/zip

    utilities.

    TheExporttoGoogleEarth addinautomatically runs GoogleEarth if installedandsets the focuson the locationofthe

    exporteditems.TheselectedpropertiesarealsoexportedtoGoogleEarthandcanbedisplayedintiptextinsideGoogleEarth

    byclickingthedesirediteminthePlaceswindow,orbypressingandholdingtheCtrlkeyandclickingthedesireditemonthe

    map.
