what we accomplishedthis year

College Mentors for Kids is a place to learn and grow. And we are growing. Because

of your support, kids in three states now have on-campus mentoring opportunities

available to them. That’s more than ever before. With each donation,

a child gains self-worth and a positive future vision. Each life we touch helps fulfill

our vital mission of connecting college students with the most to give to kids

who need it most. We continue to be grateful for every college mentor,

every donation, and every university that makes this possible.

MENTORSfor kids

One of an organization’s most valuable assets is the perception of its brand.

College Mentors for Kids is no exception. To ensure our continued growth, we recently

undertook a brand development process. As part of this process, we stepped back and

took a look at our organization from all angles, including the visual language we use to

inspire, connect and communicate.

a brand new brand

Using this process, we discovered what makes College Mentors for Kids unique:

• we provide programming for kids on college campuses

• we offer 100% student-led experiential curriculum

• we offer college students leadership opportunities

• we offer kids meaningful mentoring relationships

With this new brand expression, we hope to bring more clarity and impact to those we serve

and to those who serve with us. You’ll see the new brand rolled out over the next year. In fact,

this community report is the first example of our new visual brand expression. Stay tuned for

more developments.

We’d like to give special thanks to Element Three, an Indianapolis-based Branding and

Marketing firm, for their help in guiding us through this process.

how mentoring impacts kidsWhen a kid gets matched with a college student mentor for fun weekly

activities, lifelong lessons result. And as each child grows comfortable

with his local college campus and is exposed to careers, cultures, and his

community, his self-esteem increases. As she gains respect for a trusted role

model, her interest and engagement in school also increases.

For two hours a week, college student mentors step out of their college classrooms

to discover the magnitude and joy of being a role model to a child. As they live

the lesson of gaining more than they give through service, they come to know the

intrinsic value of mentoring. As a result of leading by example, they begin a journey

toward lifelong leadership and service.
