    The word taboo, is the prohibition of a topic, person or type of behavior. For this reason

    the taboo foods are those foods (meat, fish, vegetables or drinks) that for cultural or

    religious reasons are not considered acceptable for consumption and are therefore, in one

    way or another taboo for some people.

    The taboo nature of food is more a local than global aspect, corresponding to nations and

    social groups. Research on this topic reflect the preferences of some foods over others are

    not in us from birth but are being bought and education for social reasons, since animals

    do not have these limitations. Most food taboos relate to meat and animal by-products

    exploded. The research shows that, compared to the West, China is the country with more

    food taboos inspired while away from Asian cultures as many food taboo is situated in

    Central Europe and France.

    Taboo foods due to religious beliefs

    * Beef:

    One of the best known religious food taboos is the prohibition of Hinduism to sacrifice andeat the flesh of cattle, especially cows, which are considered divine and inviolable. The

    * Pork:

    Both the Jewish religion and the Muslim, pork is taboo. The sacred texts of both prohibit

    this prohibition also affects the domestic pig.

    * Meat of horses:

    In Christianity there are no restrictive rules about it. However horse meat is considered

    taboo in some countries such as Britain, the U.S. and Australia, but in some areas of

    Spain, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy and Poland is usually marketed and can be

    found in supermarkets. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland are horse butchers, although

    the meat is consumed by a minority today.

    * Blood:

    Judaism, Islam and in some Christian religions such as Jehovah's Witnesses, is

    considered taboo consumption of blood, bloody meat or food containing blood as an

    ingredient.

    Food taboo for non-religious reasons

    * Dog Meat: Today is a taboo and is often associated with the movement for the protection

    of animal rights. Today is consumed in countries like China, Korea, Vietnam, the

    Philippines, East Timor and Congo.

    * Insects: Insects are not considered in Europe as a food, while in some countries of Asia,

    Africa and Latin America can include them as food in some dishes. In Europe and the

    United States are associated with insects and dirt litter and therefore its use is avoided.

    Cannibalism

    One of the foods considered taboo in most cultures of the world is human flesh(cannibalism). Socially consumption of human flesh is considered acceptable in

    exceptional cases, such as in cases of shipwreck.

    The passage of the magical concept of taboo or prohibition reasoned and reasonable and
