Main Points• Premature Birth
– should be of concern to Chickasaw County – The difference in rates between the state and county
have over time– Chickasaw County’s rates of premature birth have
to match Mississippi’s rates
• Heart Disease – Rates are high and are of major concern especially
among the older population– But, rates for both Mississippi and Chickasaw
County have over the past 5 years
Main Points
• Malignant Neoplasm (Cancer)– A disparity exists between the white and black
population in Chickasaw County, which is also representative of the state of Mississippi
