III. REGIONAL GEOLOGY
3.1. Physiographic
Based on Regional Geological Setting of Kalimantan, The
exploration area is located in Schwaner Mountains (Herman
Darman & F. Hasan Sidi, 2000) that predominated by body of
granodiorite tonalite batholite, a small part of basaltic rocks, and
granite intrusive which making regional metamoprhism.
Tecto-stratigraphy of Kalimantan island are formed by Paleozoic
and Mesozoic sediment rocks, volcanic rocks that infiltrated by
cretaceous granite rocks which is part of continent plate.
Subduction zone has been formed, the elements consist of Folding
and Faulting at turbidite sediment rocks, ofiolite, and mélange
that having Kapur – Eosen age. At lower Oligocene – upper
Miocene was happened magma activity at western, central, and
eastern Kalimantan whereas in centre of Kalimantan formed gold
deposit zone that associate with volcanic rocks or sub-volcanic
intrusive with andesitic composition. Magma activity is still
continued till end of Miocene, whereas the younger one was
happened at Pliocene – Pleistocene.
There are 3 orogenesis activity that influence geological of
Kalimantan island, they are orogenesis of centre part Kalimantan,
orogenesis of Meratus line and orogenesis of Sabah. Based on
aerophotograph analysis, the geological structure that grew up at
edge of NorthEast Sunda Self with Pre-Tertiary bedrock shows its
structure straightness direction have NorthEast–SouthWest
pattern till North–South, whereas eastern Melawi basin expands
syncline structure with tinder direction East–West and structure
straightness towards NorthWest–SouthEast.

3.2. Stratigraphy
The Regional Stratigraphy of exploration area is made base on
name set of litostratigraphy that is set of formation. The set of
this formation is determined base on characteristics of rock that
observed in the field. That is consisted of rock type, uniformity of
rock type, and stratigraphy position between rocks.
The Boundary of relative age spreading and precipitation
environment for each set of different formation is characteristics
of the rocks lithology from formation compiler that met at the
field.
Determination of relative age and precipitation environment from
each set of formation conducted by using two ways, the first is
based on relation between formation until known relative age
from each set of formation, and this condition are supported by
research to fossil content from limestone. Whereas for rock that
not contain foraminifera fossil, its age determination is conducted
with the proportion of previous research results which based on
the similarity of physical features at the field, by using reference
from Geological Map of Tumbang Hiram sheet (1615), scale 1 :
250.000 (Geological Research and Development Centre – P3G, U.
Margono, T. Soejitno, T. Santosa, 1995).
Based on Regional Geological Map, then exploration area has 6
set of formation, that is Pinoh Metamorphic (PzTrp), Sepauk
Tonalit (Kls), Selangkai Formation (Kse), Malasan Volcanic Rock
(Tomv), Sintang Intrusive (Toms), and Alluvium (Qa).
1. Pinoh Metamorphic
Biotite-Muscovite Schist, Hornblenda Schist, Biotite Gneiss,
Phylite, Slate and Quartzite. This rock intruded and thermally
metamorphosed by the Sepauk Tonalite and The Sintang

Intrussive. Its presumed Permo-Carboniferous in age, and it
can be correlated with same rock from Schwaner Mountain (50
km west sheet border) and in Mangkiang (north of Sanggau)
which contain of Fusulinidae, Echinoid and Bryozoa within
limestone (van Emmichoven, 1939).
2. Sepauk Tonalit
Biotite granite, Hornblende and Muscovite Granite. Foliated in
contact with metamorphics rock and intruded by Sintang
Intrusive Rock. Age dating of the same unit from Samba River
(Tewah Sheet) showing 76 Ma (Late Cretaceous).
3. Selangkai Formation
Mudstone, Shale, Sandstone, Silstone, Minor pebbly
sandstone, Conglomerate, Limestone; rare Coal, locally basal
pebble to boulder conglomerate; commonly calcareous and
carboniferous. Fossil content consist of planktonic to benthic
foraminiferas, Algae, Coal, Echinoids, Gastropods, Radiolarian
and Ostracods, shown Valaginian to Cenomian. The unit was
deposited in a shallow to open marine environment. Thickness
approximately 1,000 m (Pieters et al., 1993). This formation
has a faulted contact with the Haloq Sandstone.
4. Malasan Volcanic Rock
Volcanic Breccia, Tuff, Aglomerate and Andesite Lava. Breccia
components mainly consists of andesite compositions. Malasan
Volcanic Rock interfingers with lower part of the Tanjung
Formation. It is probably Early Miocene age and it was
deposited in a litoral environments.
General Exploration Report – Tangoi Project
10 October 2009
5. Sintang Intrusive
Intrusions form as dykes and silts of andesite and basalt with
areal coverage of several metres to kilometers. Andesite is
commonly prophyritic texture, Dense, Brownish Green and
composed of altered plagioclase and orthoclase consisting of
sericite, hornblende, pyroxene, chlorite calcite and ore
minerals. Basalt is generally aphanitic texture, consisting of
plagioclase, pyroxene, glass, ore minerals and chlorite. The
andesite and basalt intrusive is probably Early Miocene in age.
6. Alluvium
Gravel, Sand, Silt, Clay and Organic matters are found as river
deposits.

IV. GENERAL SURVEY
4.1. Genesis of Metal Minerals
In exploration area was found varies igneous rocks that identify
growing of magma activity that bring iron ore mineralization.
Existence of granitic rocks and andesitic rocks identifies that ever
happened magma activity which is the key of metal minerals
forming.
Based on the process of metal forming, there are 4 types of iron
ore deposit. The types are:
- Iron ore deposit of contact metasomatism,
- Iron ore deposit of placer,
- Iron ore deposit of laterite,
- Iron ore deposit of sediment.
The iron ore deposit in exploration area is contact metasomatism
type. In megascopic, the characteristics are: blackish red, fine-
medium grain size, bad sorting, closed fabric, predominated by
ore minerals, predicted as magnetite/hematite.
4.2. Field Survey Results
Field survey was carried out by a scale of 1 to fifty thousand to
get geological information such as iron ore exposures, lithography
and geological structure in exploration area. The survey method
which used is stream mapping to looking for the iron ore
exposures. The exploration team is divided into 3 teams to
conducting observation in River Parahoi, River Roha, and River
Tisoi.
The exploration team found Hematite float at downstream and
Magnetite float at upstream. Also found Magnetite exposure at
upstream of River Tisoi. The magnetite exposure is iron vein zone
with width about 4 – 7 m. Vein zone means there are some iron

vein with varies dimension. Based on the field survey result,
obtained the prospect area which is northern exploration area.
Some parts of the prospect area are outside exploration area. It
means the owner KP (PT. MP Treasure) has to submit the KP
coordinates changing towards North to Mining Department of
Katingan district.
The list of KP coordinates changing is shown in Table 4 at with total area
become 5,787 Ha.
Iron Vein Zone exposure at upstream of River Tisoi.

The Forest using status of new exploration area is:
- HPT : 2,123 Ha,
- HP : 471 Ha,
- KPPL : 3,193 Ha.
The forest using status map is shown in appendix (Forest Status
Map).
The field survey results have been combined with the desk study
and presented in 3 Maps.
• Map 1 shows satellite image of exploration area,
• Map 2 shows the changing of exploration area,
• Map 3 shows forest using status,
• Map 4 shows work plan in the new exploration area.
4.3. Calculation of Geological Resources
The calculation of geological resources is based on the invention
of iron ore vein zone with direction N 280 E and width 4 – 7
metres that located at upstream of Rive Tisoi. And then, found
magnetite float with dimension 30 x 40 x 25 centimeters at
upstream of River Tosa with distance 2 km from vein zone at river
tisoi.
Based on field survey, the characteristic of iron ore deposit in
exploration area is primary iron ore deposit that formed as vein.
The straightness direction of vein zone at upstream tisoi and
boulder location at upstream tosa is similar. So, the calculation of
geology resource is as follows:
Resources = Volume x Density
Volume = Vein length x Vein Width x Depth of Mine Target
= 2,000 m x 1 m x 30 m
= 60,000 m3.
Resources = 60,000 m3 x 4.2 t/m3 = 252,000 t.
General Exploration Report – Tangoi Project
16 October 2009
Total Vein = 10
Estimation Value = 40%
Resources = 252,000 t x 10 x 40%
= 1,008,000 t
This calculation is just for eastern prospect area in 290.1 Ha.
