GRAINCORP SILO The concrete silo was built in 1941 completed for the 42/43 harvest season with a 75,000 bushel capacity. Due to an increase in yields a steel annex with a 70,000 bushel capacity was erected in 1954. The concrete walls are ten inches thick with a height of 22 metres and a height of 18 metres on the tin silo.

Artwork was designed and completed by Australian artist Jimmy Dvate in 2018. The artwork consists of the threatened Squirrel Glider on the concrete silo. On the tin silo an Azure Kingfisher eating a Yellow Belly fish is pictured alongside the Campaspe River near the Red Bridge.

The Campaspe River is the town’s defining natural feature. Surrounded by River Red Gums, the river banks and billabongs are still dotted with the fire mounds of local Aboriginal people. Kookaburras and Kingfishers swoop among the trees, while Wrens and Wagtails dart about the understory. A three-kilometre signposted walk gives an insight into both the European and Indigenous histories of the area.
