You redeemed by Your great power and by Your strong hand.• Job 33:28 'He has redeemed my soul from going to the pit, And

my life shall see the light.‘• Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law,

having become a curse for us-- for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE "—

• 1 Peter 1:18…you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold...19 but with precious blood…blood of Christ.

Exodus 14:18 and 15:14 Philistia & Egyptians Will Know

• Exodus 14:18, 15:14 "The peoples have heard, they tremble; Anguish has gripped the inhabitants of Philistia.

• Rahab said in Joshua 2:9 and said to the men, "I know that the LORD has given you the land, and that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land have melted away before you. 10 "For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. 11 "And when we heard it, our hearts melted and no courage remained in any man any longer because of you; for the LORD your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.

Exodus 15:15, Humans Are Without Excuse

• Exodus 15:15 "Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed; The leaders of Moab, trembling grips them; All the inhabitants of Canaan have melted away.

• Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks; but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Humans In The Great Tribulation Will Be Even More Without Excuse

• Revelation 1:3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.

• Revelation 11:10 And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them [2 witnesses] and celebrate; and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.

• Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, having an eternal gospel to preach to those who live on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people;

• God will show mighty signs, wonders, judgments; seals, trumpets, and bowl judgments

Page 10: Exodus Chapters 15 and 16

Exodus 15:16, You Have Purchased

• Exodus 15:16 …Until Your people pass over, O LORD, Until the people pass over whom You have purchased.

• Psalm 74:2 Remember Your congregation, which You have purchased of old, Which You have redeemed to be the tribe of Your inheritance; And this Mount Zion, where You have dwelt.

• How, when, with what did God purchase the Jews. I thought the Egyptians gave them gold & silver?

• We know about us; Acts 20:28 "Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

Page 11: Exodus Chapters 15 and 16

Exodus 15:16, You Have Purchased

• How, when, with what did God purchase the Jews.• Exodus 11:5 and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall

die, from the firstborn of the Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the slave girl who is behind the millstones; all the firstborn of the cattle as well.

• God owns every human, and all the cattle. But!...• Hebrews 10:4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and

goats to take away sins. • The OT saints, from Adam on, were purchased before the

foundations of the world, by God’s grace, just like us, through the precious blood of Christ.

Exodus 15:19, Drowned In A Marsh With Dry Land? Stupid Egyptians?

• Exodus 15:19 For the horses of Pharaoh with his chariots and his horsemen went into the sea, and the LORD brought back the waters of the sea on them, but the sons of Israel walked on dry land through the midst of the sea.

• The Egyptians could see the Jews walking on dry ground, yet they managed to drown all “his chariots and his horsemen”?

• Wow! That makes me think of the stories of commercially raised turkeys drowning in a rainstorm because they kept looking up.

• Even one chariot getting off the “dry ground” trail doesn’t make sense because there “the waters were like a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.” (Exodus 14:22)

• How could you see 2 million people on dry ground, yet drown your entire army in a swamp?

Page 13: Exodus Chapters 15 and 16

Wilderness Of Shur, Marah

• Exodus 15:22 Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness and found no water. 23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter; therefore it was named Marah.

Exodus 15:24, Walking In Moses' Shoes

• Loren McCune says, “To help my Sunday school class of nine-year-olds understand the difficulty of Moses' job of settling disputes as leader of the Israelites, I asked the children to role-play. Zackary was given Moses' part while the others worked in pairs to come up with problems for him to tackle.

• The first duo, Jessica and DaNae, approached their leader and said, "We have no food."

• Moses thought for a minute and nervously answered, "Go kill some animals."

• The next pair were the Terrence children. The problem? "Someone's been killing our animals."

Page 17: Exodus Chapters 15 and 16

Exodus 15:25, The Waters Became Sweet

• Exodus 15:25 Then he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree; and he threw it into the waters, and the waters became sweet. There He made for them a statute and regulation, and there He tested them.

• 2 Kings 2:19 …the water is bad, and the land is unfruitful." 20 And he said, "Bring me a new jar, and put salt in it." So they brought it to him. 21 And he went out to the spring of water, and threw salt in it and said, "Thus says the LORD, 'I have purified these waters; there shall not be from there death or unfruitfulness any longer.'" 22 So the waters have been purified to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.

Exodus 15:26, The Hygiene of Circumcision, And Medicine Of Egypt

• Chuck Missler talks about superstitious medical practice of Egypt in Genesis Notes, pages 60-63.

• Acts 7:20-22 "At that time Moses was born, and he was no ordinary child. For three months he was cared for in his father's house. 21 When he was placed outside, Pharaoh's daughter took him and brought him up as her own son. 22 Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was powerful in speech and action.

• Exodus 15:26 …I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the LORD, am your healer."

Exod 16:7, Grumblings Against Who?

• Exodus 16:7 and in the morning you will see the glory of the LORD, for He hears your grumblings against the LORD; and what are we, that you grumble against us?“

• When we grumble against God’s leaders, we grumble against God.

• 1 Timothy 5:19 Do not receive an accusation against an elder except on the basis of two or three witnesses.

• Hebrews 13:17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with grief, for this would be unprofitable for you.

Exodus 16:10, The Glory Of The LORD

• Exodus 16:10 It came about as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the sons of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.

Exodus 16:14, A Fine Flake-like Thing

• Exodus 16:14 When the layer of dew evaporated, behold, on the surface of the wilderness there was a fine flake-like thing, fine as the frost on the ground.

• 2 things we can know for sure;• It was not the layer of dew or the frost on the

ground.

Exodus 16:15, "What is it?"

• Exodus 16:15 When the sons of Israel saw it, they said to one another, "What is it?" For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, "It is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat.

• All the translations I checked have “bread” but they knew what bread was, both leavened and unleavened, but not this new stuff

• “bread”= the generic sense of food

The Bread Of God Comes Down Out Of Heaven

• John 6:31 "Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, 'He gave them bread out of heaven to eat.'" 32 Jesus therefore said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread out of heaven, but it is My Father who gives you the true bread out of heaven. 33 "For the bread of God is that which comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world. [kosmos]" 34 They said therefore to Him, "Lord, evermore give us this bread." 35 Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

Exodus 16:16, What is An Omer?

• Exodus 16:16 "This is what the LORD has commanded, 'Gather of it every man as much as he should eat; you shall take an omer apiece according to the number of persons each of you has in his tent.'“

• We know exactly what it is;• Exodus 16:36 (Now an omer is a tenth of an

ephah.)• About ½ gallon “as much as he should eat”

Page 34: Exodus Chapters 15 and 16

Exodus 16:18, Paul Quotes This

• Exodus 16:18 When they measured it with an omer, he who had gathered much had no excess, and he who had gathered little had no lack; every man gathered as much as he should eat.

• 2 Corinthians 8:13 For this is not for the ease of others and for your affliction, but by way of equality-- 14 at this present time your abundance being a supply for their want, that their abundance also may become a supply for your want, that there may be equality; 15 as it is written, "He who gathered much did not have too much, and he who gathered little had no lack."

Sabbath Exodus 16:23-29, Or 20:8?

• Exodus 16:23 is the 1st. NASU use of “sabbath”• A world without a Sabbath would be like a

man without a smile, like a summer without flowers, and like a homestead without a garden. It is the most joyous day of the whole week. Henry Ward Beecher

Page 37: Exodus Chapters 15 and 16

Exodus 16:15, 16:31, "What is it?“= It’s “manna”

• Exodus 16:31 The house of Israel named it manna, and it was like coriander seed, white, and its taste was like wafers with honey.
