The Very Hungry Caterpillar• The book uses bright colours throughout to both contrast and blend
with each other. It also includes very textured shapes to create everything and gives the effect of a collage.
• It has been illustrated.• The pages are set out very simply and use not much detail other
than the main focus.• The text is set on the same page as the images but they’re only
short sentences and are placed in blank spaces so that it’s clear to read.
• The text on every page is put in a different place to the last page in order to make it more interesting.
• The author is Eric Carle who is also the illustrator and the book was published by Puffin; Miniature Board Ed edition (29 Sept. 1994).

Monkey Puzzle• The pages are busy but only have one clear main focus.• The book uses bright colours but only those colours relevant to the
setting of the story to keep it matching throughout the story.• Text is on the same page as the images again but isn’t put over the
images and instead is placed over spaces only covered by a specific background colour.
• Sentences are mostly short but includes length variations too.• The author is Julia Donaldson, the illustrator is Axel Scheffler and
