Based on the demonstrated examples in the video units, you will be able to replicate the same tasks in yoursystem.

This detailed, step-by-step, exercise guide for Unit 1.4 Building Flavors I allows you to re-create theexample that is shown in Building Flavors I video.

At the end of this exercise you will have created a personal dashboard based on the SMEN transaction.

You will have learned how to create a new flavor, and change the visual design by inserting backgroundimages and colors. You can create transaction-/ website-/ and script buttons, and you will understand how to

hide unwanted data. In addition you will know when to use which control.Doing this exercise is not required for a successful course completion but will help greatly to get familiar withthe product and its technical capabilities.

Start SAP Screen Person as

(1) Click Access Personas .

In this exercise we will create a personal dashboard based on the Easy Access Menu(transaction SMEN), from which users can launch a few transactions they mostcommonly use.

Create New Flavo r

(1) Click .Enter Name and Descr ipt ion

(1) Click .Hide Tree Contro ls

The first thing to do is to clean up the screen. The Easy Access Menu contains a lot ofvarious controls on top of each other. Our goal is to remove all of them since we want tostart from a clean slate. There is a difference between hiding and deleting. If it’s astandard control in the underlying transaction, you can never delete it, but you canalways hide it. Custom objects we place onto the screen can be deleted.The editor window’s upper right corner will always show the element that’s currentlyselected.

(1) Click .Hide Split ter Shell

The idea is to hide all embedded controls until only the GuiUserArea remains.

(1) Change the screen title to “Welcome”.

Assign Image to Background

Make sure you select the User Area control when you assignn a background image. Youknow you have hidden all the layers when you see GuiUserArea in the upper rightcorner. If you assign the image to one of the other controls, you may get a problem lateron with other elements overlapping your background image or some other unwantedeffect.

Upload Image

Images are stored on the server. You can select any image that appears in the ImageGallery.

If the image you want is not available, you can upload it from your workstation.

Stretch the image if needed

Enter Name and Transaction Code

Sometimes a designer creates the look, while somebody else completes all the code,logic etc. You can use words like "later" as placeholders.

(1) Enter name “Leave Request”. If you don't know the transaction code you can put in “later ” and click

.

Insert a Website Button

(1) Click Website Button.

Enter the button text and the URL

(1) Enter Name: SAP.com and URL: http://www.sap.com and Click .

Insert 1st Script Button

(1) Click .

Change Label and Align

(1) Change the button text to “User Lookup”.

Insert 2nd Script Button

(1) Click .

(1) Enter name and Align the Button.

Insert another transaction button

(1) Click .

Enter Name and Transaction Code

(1) Enter Name and Transaction Code and Click .

Format the Buttons

(1) Hold the CTRL Key and select all the Buttons. In the size fields make all the Buttons 200 in width and45 in Height.

(2) Move the buttons apart and use the Align Objects function to line up the buttons according to the screenshot below. You can multi-select objects by holding Ctrl and left mouse click.

Select the SAP.com button

When you select a dark color, the font will automatically become lighter like white tocompensate to maximize readability.

(1) Select SAP.com and Click .

Select Time Entry and Leave Request

There are two sets of colors: Basic and Corporate. Personas provides the Basic colorpalette. You can define the Corporate colors in the Administration transaction to makesure that any screen you build is using the color set of your company.

Time Entry and Leave Request colors

(1) Holding the CTRL Key click on Time Entry and Leave Request and select .

Select the Remaining Buttons

(1) Select remaining buttons by holding CTRL key and Click .

Select all Buttons

(1) Click to make all labels Bold.

Insert Text Field

(1) Click . This will later be used to accept an input parameter.

Move Text to User Lookup

(1) Move Text Box to User Lookup .

Clone the Text Box

(1) Click .

Select the text box and click on Clone Control.

Drag and Drop Text on User Role

(1) Drag and Drop onto User Roles.

Insert Label

(1) Add Name and place it on the User Lookup Button.

Align the buttons

(1) Select buttons and use the Align Objects functionality to Align the buttons.

Add Label “My Dashboard”

(1) Add Label: My Dashboard. Increase the Font size and make it Bold.

Save and Exit

(1) Click .

Close the Personas Toolbar
