Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost The City University of New York is seeking an exemplary academic leader to serve as the Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost. The Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost is the chief academic officer of the University, and is responsible for leading the planning, development, and implementation of University policies and initiatives relevant to all aspects of its academic programs, research, instructional technology, global engagement, student development, and enrollment management. The position provides strategic academic leadership for The City University of New York. The Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost reports to the Chancellor and works closely with the Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer in developing University-wide operating and capital budgets that reflect the academic priorities of the University. He/she will be actively engaged in budget planning, resource development, and assessment of student learning. Under the direction of the Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost, The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) oversees University policies governing the academic programs of CUNY’s colleges and more than 100 research centers. With approximately 270,000 students enrolled in over 2,000 degree programs and an additional 240,000 in continuing education classes, the University offers learning opportunities at every level, from non-credit certificate courses to doctoral degrees in a single integrated university. The preferred qualifications for this position include: • Strong record of accomplishment as a scholar • A demonstrated record of dynamic, innovative leadership, including strategic planning, commitment to academic excellence, effective management of resources, and academic program development in a complex academic institution • A commitment to shared governance and to faculty development, research and scholarship • A demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively with constituencies such as business, governmental and not for profit leaders, on issues vital to an urban public university • A strong commitment to the mission of CUNY, to diversity among faculty, staff, and students, and to the role of public higher education in a dynamic urban environment • An earned doctorate or appropriate terminal degree Candidates should submit a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and a list of references elec- tronically to [email protected] and [email protected].
