AWARENESS TRAINING:Maternal and Child Health Training programs were conducted for ANC Mothers, ICDS Teachers, College Students, School Children, Nehru Yuva Kendra and general people in which around 5532 people partici-pated.The topics covered were Govt. Schemes – 108 and 104; CM Insurance Schemes and Food & Nutrition.

We set up 57 Kitchen Gardens in ICDS Cen-ters and Schools in 32 districts across Tamil Nadu. These were setup with the support of ICDS Teachers, School Children and around 278 volunteers.

KITCHEN GARDEN:

A referral follow up Cardiac Camp was organized on 3rd March at Tuticorin Medi-cal College Hospital, Tuticorin. Around 64 Cardio patients participated in the camp out of which 24 were advised surgery. The resource manager for this camp was the Global Hospital Medical Team.

MEDICAL CAMPS:

The MCH Training program was conducted for VSSS of�ice workers and SHG members. The topics covered were- Govt. Schemes – 108, 104; CM Insurance Schemes; Food & Nutrition and Kitchen Garden. Around 25 people each from Melachery village and Rachikottai Village attended the program with the support of Dharmapuri Social Service society; and40 people attended with support of Vellore Social Service society in Tamil Nadu.

CARITAS-UDHAYAMECO DRR PROJECT:

The scheduled training program was held from 12th Mar 2018 to 17th Mar 2018 for �irst 3 days at Kamarajar Colony ICDS centre & next 3 days at S. Boag Road ICDS centre under the name of Maternal Child Health Awareness Training for Mothers & children of Kamarajar colony & S. Boag road slum board. In this training we covered the topics like Maternal Health, Women’s Reproductive Health, Repro-ductive Tract Infections (RTIs) in which around 250 Mothers & their children got bene�ited. the Global Hospital Medical Team.

We conducted the Farmer Training Program for farmers and college students in Tamil Nadu and covered topics such as Natural Farming, Muti Corps System, Water Harvesting, Kitchen Garden, Bore well system and importance of water conservation. In this program we trained around 140 persons across 5 districts.

FARMER TRAINING:

CARE OF PREGNANT MOTHERS, NEWBORN & CHILDREN TO SLUM POPULATION AT SOUTH BOAG ROAD AND KAMARAJAR COLONY SLUM TENEMENTS – FUNDED BY ROTARY CLUB OF MADRAS EAST, FACILITATED BY EKAM FOUNDATION

In March, Our District Coordinators identi�ied 114 organic farmers database in 21 districts across Tamil Nadu.

LIVELIHOOD PROJECT:

BABY OF MAHALAKSHMI

Muthupandi native from Vadipatti village Madurai district is working as a lorry driver. on 27-02-2018 His wife Mahalakshmi delivered a male child at Govern-ment Rajaji Hospital in Madurai. At the time of birth the baby was diagnosed to have D- TGA with Intact Septum for which he was advised to undergo Arterial Switch Operation. Doctor from Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai referred the baby to Ekam to support for his further treatment, immediately the child was shifted to G. Kuppuswamy Naidu Memorial Hospital. The cost of the treatment was charged up to Rs.3, 00,000/- since Muthupandi is the only earning member his income was not suf�icient to afford for the treatment. Knowing there family background ekam has came forward to support sum of Rs. 50,000/- and with the great support of Dr. Vijayakumar and his team the baby had under-went Arterial Switch Operation successfully and discharged from the hospital.

MOHAMMED ADHIL

Mohammed Adhil 2 years 10 old boy from Kancheepuram district was suffered from Kawasaki Disease (is a disease in which blood vessels throughout the body become in�lamed) for which he was treated at Institute of Child Health. At the time of treatment he was in need of 10 grams of Immunoglobulin (which is the mixture of antibodies to treat a number of health conditions). The cost of the drug was Rs. 19,000/- since the family of the boy belongs to below poverty line his father could not be able to procure the drug. Knowing their poor situation Dr. Kalpana who was treating the child requested Ekam to arrange the drug on emergency basis. Immediately the drug was arranged and supported for the child’s treatment. He was recovered and discharged from the hospital and now he is living a normal and healthy life.
