Ok, Eilidh Izat i’m
finally admitting that i HEA
RT
architecture...i am aw
ay to shoot myself but still
agree with Iain A
rchibald that it’s just big prod-
uct design!! HAHA
Does product design/service not cover all of
that? maybe not to a certain detailed w
ay, but
its there.:)
Architecture is the ultim
ate synthesis of creative
design, artistic intellect and the social sciences-
creating permanent solutions for living, w
orking,
pleasure and the environment- so the daddy of
all things basically... Done.
PATCH ! I knew
you’d come around eventually.
Welcom

26 27SEPTEMBER 2010
DIDITREALLYDESERVETOWIN?!?
WORDS BY RACHEL PATRICK.
PHOTOGRAPHY BY CONOR ASHCROFT.
Scotland's new Parliament sits at the foot of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile
in front of the spectacular Holyrood Park, Salisbury Crags and Arthur’s Seat.
Constructed from a mixture of steel, oak, and granite, the complex building has been hailed as one of the most innovative designs in Britain today.
Drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape, the flower paintings by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the upturned boats on the seashore, Enric Miralles, one of the world's premier architects, developed a design that he said was a building "growing
out of the land". The Scottish Parliament building has won several significant architectural awards. You feel it’s worth of them?
The Donald Dewar Room is on the Canongate level of Queensberry House. The rooms were once the bedroom and dressing room of the second Duke of Queensberry. It now houses the collection of books and other memorabilia gifted to the Parliament by the family of Donald Dewar, Scotland’s first First Minister who died in October 2000. The Main Hall is where the public first make contact with the Scottish Parliament. Information Desk, visitors can find out where to go in life.
