About SaxionWith locations in Apeldoorn, Deventer and Enschede and approximately 26,000 students, Saxion is one of the largest institutes of higher education in the east of The Netherlands. Over the past few years, the number of English-taught programmes has grown considerably. ECTS & grading
ECTS 1 ECTS stands for a study load of 28 hours.
60 ECTS: full academic year, 30 ECTS: one semester.
Each semester consists of two quarters. Exams are taken at the end of
each quarter.
Grading system Scale from 1 – 10, at which a 10 is excellent and a 1 means very poor:
1 to 5,4 -> fail
5,5 to 10 > pass.
Transcripts will be digitally sent to the student and the partner university
after the mobility period ends.
Course offering Students can choose for one of the packages offered in Fall or one of the
packages offered in Spring semester. These are fixed courses.
Housing and costs – all mentioned amounts are subject to change
Housing information International Office arranges housing for all incoming non-EU/EEA
students. EU/EEA students can apply for housing or they can arrange their
own housing

EU/EEA students Free to choose for housing provided by Saxion or own housing.

Housing: € 2.574,00. Housing deposit: € 500,00 (only deposit). Insurance EU: € 30,00 (liability - mandatory). Insurance NON-EU: € 300,00 (health, liability and travel insurance).
Visa: € 220,00 (non EU only). NON-EU Exchange students will be asked
to transfer the financial means to Saxion account, beside the package fee.
It will be considered as temporary deposit, which will be refunded to the
student once he/she arrives in the Netherlands and opens a Dutch bank
account. Students are obliged to prove to the IND that they have sufficient
financial support during their stay in the Netherlands. Living expenses: € 875,00 (general per month).

Pick-up assistance A free shuttle bus from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is available on

Accommodation Pick up service will bring you to your accommodation upon arrival.
Health insurance Health insurance is obligatory for all Dutch residents. Your EU Health card
is enough to fulfil this obligation. You can also take out a Dutch health

Personal liability

Arranged by the International Office for all students: € 30,00 for EU
students and included in NON-EU insurance (€ 300,00 complete
insurance).
Residence permit EU students do not need a residence permit; NON-EU students are
subject to visa regulations of the sending country.
Bank account Obliged for NON-EU students. After you have opened your Dutch bank
account Saxion can transfer the living fee to your Dutch account.
