EXCEPTINAL CHILDREN

An exceptional child is one who deviates from the normal child in mental , physical , emotional and social characteristics to an extent that he requires special educational services . Exceptional children experience unusual problems and so they need special arrangements and programmers to suit their situations .

TYPES OF EXCEPTIONAL CHIDREN

Mentally Exceptional Children : They include the gifted , slow learner and the backward children .

Physically Exceptional Children : They include the blind , deaf , dumb and crippled children .

Emotionally Exceptional Children : They include delinquents . Socially Handicapped Children : They include the under

privileged . Multi Handicapped Children : They include children having

more than one defect .

GIFTED CHILDREN

The gifted child is he who has been endowed with great natural ability , intelligence or talent . His performance is consistently remarkable and superior in some valuable area of activity . Gifted children have high cognitive ability , creativity and superior talent in special areas .

Backwardness is state of being below the normally accepted level in learning things . A child who is slow in learning is called a slow learner or backward child .
