INTRODUCING CAMP RAVEN KNOB

Raven Knob Scout Reservation is a 3200 acre Boy Scout camp operated by the Old Hickory Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The reservation is located in Surry County, North Carolina, United States. Boy Scout Summer Camp is the hallmark program of Camp Raven Knob. For 7 weeks out of the summer, Scouts from across the Eastern seaboard and even from around the world come to Camp Raven Knob to experience all that the Scouting program has to offer. From classic merit badges such as cooking, leatherwork, and swimming, all the way to high adventure programs and white-water canoeing trips, Camp Raven Knob has something for everyone. In 2019, the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia will be hosting the 24th World Scouting Jamboree. Tens of thousands of Scouts and Scouters from around the world will be attending for the whole two weeks, but many will only be attending for the day. To help facilitate day visitors to the World Jamboree, Raven Knob will be offering a special program for scouts looking to attend the World Jamboree as Day Visitors and who also want to experience some of what Western North Carolina has to offer.

DON’T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT

USA – The Great American Eclipse Dear Darren, Thank you very much indeed for the hard work that you put into making our trip to the USA to see the Eclipse a resounding success! Your flexibility and understanding of our needs helped create a truly memorable experience. I know you were a little concerned about the blank days at Camp Buffalo Bills, however it turned out to work well as the leadership team at the camp were able to adjust the programme to meet our needs. In particular having the 15 seater mini bus worked really well as the individual patrols could explore different parts of Yellowstone. It wouldn’t have worked well with all 37 on a big bus as the days were longs and there was so much to see. We ended up doing nearly 3,000 miles in the mini bus! The Eclipse itself was truly stunning. We hiked up to a viewpoint immediately behind the motel and enjoyed the view from there as there was clear skies. Once again thank you to you and the entire team. I would not have any reservations about using Travel Places for any Scout trip in the future. I am already thinking about the Eclipse in Mexico in 2024!!
