Recommendations
• Engineering countermeasures to address TCDs deficiencies at signalised intersections, thereby influencing drivers to avoid committing violations
• Education and awareness measures to improve road user understanding of the road environment in which TCDs play a critical role
• Enforcement measures to improve the systems of recognition and prosecution of traffic violations
29
Pressing Need: Capacity Building
• Developing countries need to address capacity building in traffic management:– Understanding violations
– Understanding road crashes
30
Conclusion
• Study has proven that: – RTVs are additional indicators of road safety assessment
– RTVs are symptoms of pre crash conditions
– RTVs are indicators of deficient road environment
– Countermeasures can improve road safety and road user culture.
