To address our growing energy problems, Congress,
states, and utility companies are providing grants,
rebates, and incentives to building owners to get them to
reduce their energy consumption (Government Grant).

Qualifying for the Government Grant can be very
expensive and risky if not correctly done. Some of the
risks:
• Finding a certified company/individual who can
perform the work, and who has the proper license to
sign-off on the completed work.
• Investing high amount of money for the retrofit/upgrade
and not qualifying for the deduction.
• Understanding 2005 Energy Policy, 2008 Emergency
Economic Stabilization Act, ASHRAE/IESNA* 90.1,
Control Systems, 2007 Energy Independence and
Security Act, and 2001 Building Energy Code can be
very difficult and time consuming, and may lead to
misinterpretations.
