The pedagogical focus of the Schwäbischen Jugendbildungsstätte (Jubi) Babenhausen contains education for sustainable development, environmental education, experience based training, intercultural learning and international exchanges. In all operational fields the Jubi offers trainings lasting one or more days for school classes, youthgroups and intermediars. The schwäbische Jugendbildungsstätte is placed in a quite rural area in Southern Bavaria. Babenhausen is a small city with 6000 inhabitants. The economical structure of the region is mainly small and medium- sized businesses and crafts. The region around Babenhausen ist characterized by small villages within agricultural land. The next cities in size are Memmingen and Ulm away. The volunteer will work 35h/week. The volunteer will live in a flat with two other volunteers, each will have a own room. The volunteer will have meals in the center. Description of the host project The pedagogical focus of the Schwäbischen Jugendbildungsstätte (Jubi) Babenhausen contains education for sustainable development, environmental education, experience based training, intercultural learning and international experience. In all operational fields the Jubi offers trainings lasting one or more days for school classes, youthgroups and intermediars. A special part of the jubi is the so called Umweltstation, which is specialised upon education programmes in ecological contexts and sustainable development for schoolclasses, youth and young adults. There are a lot of possibilities resulting from the multivarious offerings of the jubi´s programme for the EVS's to get new experiences and take challenges conducting their own competences and interests. For the institution it is important that the trainees are able to bring in their indivdual skills and abilities. The volunteer can gain experiences in the schoolclass projects and the other seminars, in the houskeeping section, and in working in the big garden surrounding the Jubi. There is a volunteer in the Jubi since several years yet who is working one year in the environmental projects, called FÖJ. The intention of two volunteers lies in the oppurtunities of working together and exchange their project experiences. Profile of the volunteer The volunteer must be open-minded for working in a team and for the cooperation with the staff in the house. The EVS's are taking part in the team of the Jubi, which means being involved in meetings, preparations, eg. The volunteer should have some basic knowledge in German and English due to the fact that she / he should be able to communicate with the persons in our organisation. The volunteer also should know something about living in a rural district, so that he / she can imagine how to deal with the local conditions.
