Evolution

• Over time- Millions of years ago

• Random- can’t be sure when happens

• Variation- from one form to another

• Natural Selection- not all organisms live

Microevolution• Causes-mutation, genetic flow/drift,

natural selection

• Population changes at/below species level

• Example-House Sparrow and size differences

House Sparrows•Bigger Birds in North

•Smaller birds in South•Cause is Natural Selection

•Bigger tolerate colder conditions

Imperfections of adaptation

• Imperfection of adaptation was as follows – Adaptation fell short of an ideal– No incurred costs of the imperfections

• Meaning animal is not affected negatively

Example of Imperfections

• An Example of imperfection

• Imperfections in vertibite optics – Retina ”’inside out’” making:

• A small Blind spot in vision

Evolution Conclusion

• Natural Selection favors randomness and imperfection

• All animals have one common ancestor

• Evolution happens in lots of time

• How species are related by DNA
