evocon / estonian design awards 2014
DESCRIPTION
Evocon is factory production line efficiency software. The challenge was to redesign the architecture of Evocon through the end user’s point of view, so they could and would use the full capacity that the system has.TRANSCRIPT
Evocon Service design 2014
Background:Evocon is factory production line efficiency software
What was the underlying problem?
Evocon was impossible to use without constant developer support. Each client’s input led to making new custom solutions.
Only a fraction of the systems’ potential was used since people couldn’t learn and use it intuitively.
Redesigned for better visibility from distance, all clutter removedToo much information for an on-site operator
Design process
1.2.
3. 4. 5. 6.
Research and mapping of the system, its users and their journeysInterviews & workshops with users – factory engineers, line operatorsConcept mapping and wireframingDeveloping user interfaces for every user groupTesting the functionality of the new UI Development and implementation of the UI
CONCEPT MAPPING• based on user research • defines functionalities for each role
SYSTEM MAPPING• sets clear limits to the analytics module• defines how & what can be displayed
How it was achieved
The whole team of Evocon was part of the project, together with several of their key clients – production companies and factories.
