evil monsters in your workplace and how to deal with them
TRANSCRIPT
‘I want this by the end of the day, I want these unachievable targets accomplished, report to me with
everything in an hour’ – He is basically sucking the life out of every one. Stop
being a push over, set timelines for your tasks and share WIP reports. Be
diplomatic and tell them you value time and want to accomplish tasks no matter what, but show them why they need to
be reasonable.
‘Not sure if it can be done, let me think about it.’ – They are lazy, disinterested and their motto is ‘Work in progress’.
This one is dicult because the person himself has no motivation. The only way
to deal with him will be talking to him and asking him to be an enabler in the team and make him address the issue.
‘I don’t like anything and everything you do’ – This is probably one of those hostile co-workers or worse he is your boss. You need to be calm with this person. Avoid
confrontation when he is in the bad mood this will lead to more hostility. Try and get their point of view and handle them with a
lot of tact something better.
Other precautions that might help you avoid these monsters • Spread the power of salt around your desk to ward o these spirits.• Keep pitchforks and torches ready for that monster hunt.• Have the Ghostbusters number on speed dial.
EVIL MONSTERS IN YOUR WORKPLACE
AND HOW TO DEAL WITH THEM.
‘I don’t know how I am created’ – He doesn’t know how he got where he is, nor
do you. He is just a big oaf, who is incompetent of accomplishing the
simplest of tasks. Invest in training and hope he starts getting it. If that doesn’t work than it might be time to ask him to
move on, he might find something better.
‘Zombie wants brains’ – He just walks around mindlessly, gossiping and chewing everyone’s brains o.
They usually hang out in a huge herd of a gossip groups to convert anyone
and everyone else into a mindless zombie. Stop being part of mindless
watercooler chatter groups. Your work can be a big enough excuse to
get out of any gossip that might hurt your productivity or cause any
damage otherwise.
