Sea Surface Temperature

- Sea surface temperature is the temperature that is recorded at the uppermost layer of the ocean/sea

- The temperature of the ocean and seas are different because of stronger and weaker insolation from the sun at different places

Sea Level Rising-The sea level rising is one of the main consequences of climate

change.-The sea level rising is caused by the expansion of the sea water. The

sea water expands when the water warms.-Heat causes the particles to move quicker and to spread apart.-Ice melting is also causing the sea level to rise which is evidence for

climate change

(Sea level changing from 1993-2008)

(Red and Yellow = Sea level rising, Purple and blue = Sea level getting deeper)

Sea Level Rising cont.- The sea level has risen about 17 centimeters in the last 100 years

mostly due to the expansion of water as it warms and ice melting.-Where the sea level rises, the temperature also rises causing

typhoons/hurricanes to happen more often in these areas.

(The orange/red parts of the map is where the water is rising the most.)

Change in Ocean pH

The pH in the ocean has been changing over millions of years

A consequence of the pH in the ocean lowering is that marine life could die because of the acidity in the water which would mess up the food chain and put many animals in the world at danger.
