Our new Folk in the Foyer sessions have proved to be a huge hit with regular live acts continuing this season in the Foyer bar. As well as top professional acts such as Toyah Willcox, Shappi Khorsandi, Rich Hall, Jackson Live and the fabulous Vienna Festival Ballet, there’s lots of local talent too with Phoenix Youth Theatre’s The

Wizard of Oz and EODS’ production of CHESS – The Musical. No winter season would be complete without a Panto and once again Phoenix Theatre Group delivers the goods with their production of “Snow White The Panto”. Four talented musicians play works by Haydn, Brahms & Debussy

Since their splendid Evesham concert last year, this quartet has been playing around the country together and as individual members of ensembles including English National Ballet Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Academy of St Martin’s in the Field. This prize winning quartet is guaranteed to give us an entertaining afternoon - playing Haydn String Quartet in G, op.74/3; Brahms String Quartet no.2 in A, op.51/2; Debussy Quartet in G Minor Op 10. Coffee and cake will be included.

Folk in the Foyer: Kirsty Bromley

Sheffield's young contemporary folk singer

Kirsty draws upon a wide range of traditional music. Her warm and memorable voice helped her win Bromyard's Fred Jordan Memorial Folk Singing Competition in 2010, since when she's performed at festivals and folk clubs around the UK and abroad. Kirsty's 2015 debut album 'Time Ashore' features original songs as well as folk gems. She'll be joined by multi-instrumentalist Simon Dumpleton - and supported by Bristol's rising young folk star Susie Dobson.

The upbeat Dave Chawner is back as MC with a half dozen great new comedy acts - to include Harry Stachini, Ben Pope, Daphna Baram & Luke Dixon. The night's headliner is the quick-witted, original, cynical & funny Ed Pownall. A sketch writer & broadcaster ("Ed the Bookie"), he combined the two to become a comedian - 'beating The Gong' at London's Comedy Store in 2014. Another great night of laughs! All acts TBC.

Violinist Savitri Grier read Music at Oxford and is currently undertaking a Masters at the Guildhall School. Selected as a Young Classical Artists Trust scheme performer, Savita regularly gives recitals as part of the Grier Trio. World War II's darkest days - as seen by Punch magazine!

Amid the battle of France, Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain and the Blitz, Mr Punch’s cartoons reflected the cheerful resolve of the British people to carry on a way of life under threat. Features such as ‘From the Home Front’ and ‘At the Pictures’ dealt with topical issues in an informed but humorous way. Artist and lecturer Tim Stimson looks at WW2's darkest days through the pages of Punch Magazine 1940 - bought at a car boot sale for £4.

Australian-British pianist Jayson Gillham has emerged as one of the finest pianists of his generation - internationally regarded for his compelling performances and earning numerous awards and prizes. One of the UK's foremost acoustic blues performers

Mark takes elements of blues and folk and produces something totally original. A thrilling, rhythmic finger-picker and slide player, Mark plays a 1934 National resonator guitar and a 12-string as well as singing. He's recorded 3 albums and been nominated for numerous awards. Plus support from Northamptonshire-based singer-songwriter Lew Bear.

Toyah performs an unplugged set of her well-loved hits - and recalls stories from her colourful 35-year career. From filming pop videos on horseback at 5am to acting alongside Katharine Hepburn and Laurence Olivier, this is a show which lifts the lid on working in the entertainment business. Two talented guitarists accompany Toyah on acoustic versions of the hits ‘It’s A Mystery’, ‘Thunder In The Mountains’, ‘I Want To Be Free’ and ‘Good Morning Universe’ through to ‘Sensational’ (used recently by a TV advert starring Patsy Kensit).
