What Are The Challenges ForChildren in America Today?
29 million children are growing up in poverty in the United States. One in four children in America grows up not knowing how to read. Every 19 seconds a child in America grows up not knowing how to
read.
85% of all young people who go through the juvenile court systemare illiterate.
Almost one-third of all children in the U.S. are overweight or obese. Children from low-income households are under-exposed and lack
proper access to opportunity.

EVERY CHILD USATM
FREEDOM SCHOOLS
Now in its 10th year, Childrens Defense Funds FREEDOM SCHOOL is a LITERACY PROGRAMthat serves children from pre-school through 12th grade.
Presently, Freedom Schools serves over 10,000 children in 29 states.
Every Child USATMwill expand Freedom Schools to serve thousands of children in povertystricken, rural and urban centers during the summer months and after school programs year-long.
Freedom Schools provided over 2000 college students with jobs this summer (2010).This will be significantly increased through the EVERY CHILD USATM campaign.

EVERY CHILD USATMwill expand or support TheOrangeDuffel Bag Foundation in the following ways:
Assist homeless youth and older foster care youth in makingpositive connections within their communities.
Leadership and life skills training for youth living in fostercare, aging out of foster care and homeless youth.
When an at-risk youth becomes a Certified Orange DuffelBag Coach, that young person is presented with apersonalized orange duffel bag equipped with items likelaptop computers and cell phones -- that will make his orher journey better.

In partnership with children health providers, medical facilities andhealth departments, The Balm In Gilead will facilitate the productionof an EVERY CHILD USA

Circus will initially be rolled out in US Southern States.
