PreparationWhileyoupreparetoclimb,itwillbehelpfultodedicatesometimetowardsfitness.Youdonotneedtobeinexcellentphysicalshapeforyourclimb,however,youshouldfocusonincreasingyourcardioandrememberthatyourdayswillconsistoflonghikesathighaltitudes.Youwillbehikingatleast5-8hoursadaytoEBC.ThebestfitnesspreparationishikingoninclinedanddeclinedterrainwithabackpackandthehikingbootsyouplantowearupEBC.Thiswillhelptoprepareyourmusclesandbodyforlongdurationsofhikingyouwillexperiencewhileonthetrek.Itwillbebeneficialforyoutogoonhikesinyourareaand/orsimplywalkforlongperiodsoftimeonterrainthatincludesbothuphillanddownhill.Wealsosuggestdoingsquatsandclimbingstairs,assomeareasonEBCrequireyoutoascendrockyterrain.Duringtheclimb,youwillcarryabackpackwithdailynecessities,suchaslayers,arainjacket,andatleast2litersofwater,sowhilepreparing,youshouldpracticedoingthesame.Ifyourhikingbootsarenotbrokenin,thenwehighlysuggestwearingyourbootswhileyouhike,walk,orclimbstairs.YoucanalsobreakyourbootsinwhilevolunteeringattheconstructionsiteduringyourNepalVolunteerExcursion,priortoEBC.Manyvolunteerschoosethisrouteinsteadofbringingseparateworkandhikingboots.MentalenduranceisthekeytotrekkingEBCandyouwillneedstaminaanddeterminationforthejourney.Thebestwaytobuildmentalstrengthistospendlongperiodshiking,walking,orclimbingstairscoupledwithremainingmentallypositivewhileyouengageintheseexercises.Bringalongyourideasofgames,riddles,songs,etc.tokeepyouentertainedduringthehike.And,takethisincredibleopportunitytogettoknowyourguidesandporters,aswellasdeepenyourbondswithfellowvolunteers!
