Here’s a review of four of the top new features. BLIND SPOT DETECTION (BSD): This feature allows the driver to expand their awareness of the vehicles that are in their vicinity by detecting vehicles traveling in the blind spot: • When an obstruction is detected, this system delivers an audible and visual warning so the driver is fully informed about where other vehicles on the road are located. MULTI-VIEW CAMERA SYSTEM Equus Ultimate: This system features four cameras that provide a 360-degree view around the entire vehicle: • This system includes a forward-view cornering camera mounted on the front grille, two cameras incorporated into the side mirrors and a rearview camera. • When the Multi-View Camera System is on, the driver sees an aerial view of the Equus. • The driver can toggle between the different camera views so it displays front, rear and side camera views. • All camera views are displayed on the central in-dash navigation screen at low parking speeds—the system then switches back to the navigation mode at higher driving speeds. These cameras give the driver a clear picture of what’s happening all around the Equus Ultimate, making the Equus easier to maneuver and more relaxing to command. Isn’t that what technology should do in a luxury car? REAR CROSS-TRAFFIC ALERT: The Front and Rear Parking Assistance System uses the rearview camera and a simple, superimposed graphic with parking guidelines to help direct drivers into even the tightest parking spots. Front and rear parking sensors offer an extra line of protection in case you get too close to another car or object. Rear Cross-Traffic Alert detects vehicles that cross the rearward path of the Equus and provides both an audio and visual alert when an obstruction is detected.

Marketing News

EQUUS STARS AT THE PGA TOURNAMENT Yes, at the end of the tournament, Webb Simpson was the winner of the 2013 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open PGA event, but the real star was the Equus, which was the official vehicle of the event.

The tournament was held at the TPC Summerlin golf course in Las Vegas, Nevada. The $6 million PGA event attracted 132 top golfers, with all the proceeds benefitting the Shriners Hospital for Children. The Equus was a real hit with the spectators. One of the highlights of the display was the Equus Charging Station (shown at right) that allowed spectators to charge their smart-phones while they were checking out the new 2014 Equus. This event was a great way to introduce people to everything the Equus has to offer.

REDS, WHITES & GREENS EVENT The PGA Tournament wasn’t the only golf event that featured the Equus—it was also center stage at the 11th Annual Reds, Whites & Greens Charity Golf Classic at the Aliso Viejo Country Club in Aliso Viejo, California. (shown above, left)

This event raises money to help fight breast cancer. Hyundai sponsored the “Hole in One” contest on the 16th hole, which included a 2014 Equus Signature on display at that hole; plus an Equus Ultimate was on display near the registration desk. This event was an excellent way to support cancer research and introduce the Equus to a new audience.

Training News

POWER OF PREMIUM UPDATEWe recently wrapped up “The Power of Premium” training workshops. The goal of these workshops was to communicate the premium vision of Hyundai, review the 2014 Equus, demonstrate how to provide customers with a premium customer experience and get dealers geared up for the launch of the all-new 2015 Genesis, which is scheduled to arrive this spring.

Hope On Wheels News

DEALER NEWS AND EVENTSDealer Success Stories

LONG ISLAND CITY: THE CARS ARE THE STAR The release of the 2014 Equus is a great reason to celebrate—so Long Island City Hyundai and New Rochelle Hyundai held a special party at Il Toscano Ristorante in Douglaston, New York. They had an Equus of every color on site.

There were hors d’oeuvres, music, drinks—even hand-rolled cigars—and participants could take a test drive right there, too! This was a great way to introduce the new Equus.

ETTLESON: COMPETITIVE EDGE!How do you convince Audi, BMW, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz owners that the Equus and Genesis have more to offer? Well, if you’re Ettleson Hyundai in Countryside, Illinois, you invite them to your dealership to see for themselves! Around 100 people attended the fully catered event. A lot of people took test drives and the dealership sold one Equus that night and three Genesis models were later sold to people who were in attendance.

The dealership, located in an affluent Chicago suburb, demonstrated that the Hyundai Equus and Genesis can go wheel to wheel and come out the winner!

TWIN CITIES: SWEET SYMPHONY To mark the opening night of the Knoxville Symphony, Twin City Hyundai in Knoxville, Tennessee, put a new Equus on display at the premiere—front and center for all to see.

ORANGE PARK: FLY ME! Here’s a creative way to attract attention—Hyundai of Orange Park put an Equus on display in the Jacksonville International Airport. You may notice it is a 2013 model, that’s because they sold two 2014s and this was the only Equus that they had left.

If you have any ideas on new ways to introduce the Equus to prospective owners, please email James Stewart, Senior Group Manager, Premium Product Operations, Hyundai Motor America at: [email protected]

As Seen on TV

WHO DRIVES AN EQUUS? Recently, the CBS TV show, 60 Minutes, did a profile on broadcaster, Bill O’Reilly. During the interview, the challenge was keeping pace with Bill.

So the interviewer, Norah O’Donnell, rode along on his commute to work—in the rear seat of Bill’s Equus! No, the Equus was not named, but you could see it was an Equus! See for yourself—here’s a link to the story:
