Proceeds: Thanks to the support and leadership of SoCal AAU, National AAU, San Diego SHOW Baseball, and combined support from San Diego area Little Leagues and Pony Baseball, 100% of the proceeds of “Home Run for Chelsea” will benefit the Chelsea’s Light Foundation, a tax-exempt 501C3. Field space has been underwritten or donated; umpires are all volunteers; and baseballs are donated by AAU and Wilson Sporting Goods. Snack bar and merchandise sales will also benefit Chelsea’s Light Foundation. Sponsorship: Sponsorship and vendor opportunities are available. Please contact [email protected] for more information.

Chelsea King: Chelsea King’s love of life spilled over into every aspect of her life. An avid cross country runner, a gifted student and musician, at 17 Chelsea was well on her way to realizing her dreams. Pursuing one of her passions, Chelsea went on a training run after school on the trails at Lake Hodges not far from her Poway, California home on February 25, 2010. Chelsea was the victim of a terrible crime committed by a convicted sex offender who later confessed and plead guilty to taking Chelsea’s life.

Chelsea’s Light Foundation: It is the mission of Chelsea’s Light Foundation to unite people who are passionate about protecting our children and inspiring positive change in their community. Thanks to the support of engaged Californians, Chelsea’s Law, which increases penalties, parole provisions, and oversight for the worst of the worst sex offenders in our society, was signed into law in 2010. Chelsea’s Light Foundation’s goal is to see Chelsea’s Law passed in all 50 states and targeted efforts are currently underway in Illinois, Massachusetts, Missouri, Ohio, Texas, and Utah.

In addition to its commitment to take Chelsea’s Law nationwide, Chelsea’s Light Foundation created a Sunflower Scholarship Fund, which offers “Academic” and “Joie de Vivre” (for extra-curricular activities that are meant to bring joy) scholarships. It also “seeds” with leadership and financial support new Chelsea’s Light Peer Corps programs at California high schools which are peer counseling programs aimed at training and creating positive teen role models.
