First day
Monday 5th September

First Day
• Arrive at school by 8.30am• Gather on the top playground (nearest to the school
entrance) to meet tutors and Year 11 prefects• Periods 1-2 with tutors including year group photograph
which parents will be able to purchase• Period 3 with tutors, getting used to the school• At some point during periods 1-3, registration for fingerprint
recognition for cashless catering will be completed - reminder to hand in the consent form please
• Periods 4-6 follow timetabled lessons

Transport
• Hampshire County Council are responsible for this. Any queries should be addressed directly to them.
• They will send bus passes and precise details of the route in late August/Early September.
• Morton’s buses run the privately hired service from Chineham, Lychpit, Old Basing etc.
• Students queue for the buses safely on the playground until called.
• Students who are staying for extra curricular activities can catch a late bus. The current cost for this service is £1 sold on the day by our prefects. The buses leave around 3.30pm.
• Safe dropping off, parking and driving near the school.

Induction Day
All students have had the opportunity to attend an induction day when they experienced a range of different lessons and an assembly
which introduced how Robert May’s ‘works’ and what they can look forward to.

Tutor Groups• 10 Tutor groups of 27 students
• A mix of students from all feeder schools
• Aim to ensure that each child has a friend or student from previous school in tutor group
• Students will receive an introductory letter from their new form tutor

It is our aim for our students to project a proud and accomplished image of themselves.
● This is limited to one pair of plain studs and a watch.
● Only one stud should be worn in each ear. ● Other styles such as spacers, spikes and hoops
are not suitable for school. ● No other jewellery, facial or body piercing is
permitted including nose, lip and tongue piercings.

The Homework Diary
• All students will be issued with this in September.
• Homework assignments will be written in here.
• It is also the first line of communication from School to Home, and from Home to School.
• Please check and sign the diary on a weekly basis.
• If you write a note, please prompt your son/daughter to show it to the relevant teacher.

What do we really do?As a senior management team, we have many different roles around the school. From selling bus passes at break times, to leading assemblies for younger students; we like to get as involved as we can, in order for us to maximize the development we will contribute to the school.
What makes students successful?As successful students ourselves, we know that it is all about preparation and being organised for everyday learning, and we understand that you need to be enthusiastic and have the correct attitude in order for you to get a good education.
Amazing Opportunities for your Children at RMSDuring our time at the school, we have been able to take part in many exciting events, that not only improve us as students, but also the school community and the reputation we create by the things we do.

• In Year 7, we will report termly on academic progress.• This will be through one of the following:
• Parents’ Consultation Evening 1st December 2016• Reviews March 2017• Annual Report at the end of the academic year

The Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
• Internet-based.
• Access in school or at home.• Used by teachers for
organising and setting homework, projects and other activities.
• Students can submit work, contribute to debates, add pictures/videos to learning blogs and lots more.
• Personal school email account linked with Google Docs
Usernames and passwords will be issued on their first day at the school and all students will be given support on how the VLE works during ICT lessons

PTA & School Uniform• anyone who hasn't ordered to do so asap to make sure we get
their sizes in time for September.
• a letter has been put in the bags of uniform collected that evening giving details of when parents /carers can exchange items or collect more orders. These times are various evenings in July when we are open
• all these opening times are on our website www.rmspta.com
• we will open up for extra days at the end of the summer holiday, dates still to be advised and these dates will be put on the website.
• we only accept online orders, if that is not possible please email us or call school asap so we can help.
