“EVANGELISM”
• εὐαγγέλιον- is a combination of two greek words “good”=“eu” and “message/r” “angelos”.
• when we evangelize we are bringing forth the gospel message, we are messengers of the good news.
Much we could consider:
• The importance of a soul• Effective methods of evangelism• Biblical examples found in the Bible• Effective material for evangelism• The time it takes for evangelism
TAKING TIME TO EVANGELIZE
Quick responses to the gospel
• With many seemingly instantaneous responses perhaps we forget:– The quick conversions mostly involved
Jews–Many had been aware of Jesus during
his three years of ministry– They were further taught by inspired
men who performed miracles– They experienced incredible efforts to
teach– This just isn’t always the case
Many examples show that it takes time:
• Saul– Acts 7, 8
• Acts 19:8-10– Not a one shot deal
• Nicodemas– John 3, 7, 19
• Jesus’ own brothers– John 7:5; Mark 3
Time needed for discipleship
• The 12 apostles– They have misunderstandings and have
faith that needs to grow• In feeding the thousands• In understanding Jesus as the Messiah• In regard to the resurrection
• The churches of the epistles– The have misunderstandings about
everything. They need to be taught again!
Applications:
• Be patient with others:– In evangelism– In discipleship
• Don’t burn bridges– Keep doors open
• Be patient with yourself:– Don’t get discouraged when you don’t get it
right away. Keep trying!!!– As long you ultimately get it, that’s what
matters!
