A graduate of the American Academy of
Personal Training, Evan Hoffman serves as
a personal trainer with Boston Sports Club.
Presently, Evan Hoffman is completing his
credential as a National Strength and
Conditioning Association Certified Personal
Trainer.
The National Strength and Conditioning Association offers personal trainer certification to health/fitness professionals. Prior to taking the certification test, applicants must acquire cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillator certifications from accredited organizations. Prior work experience is not required, but it is helpful. Visitors to the National Strength and Conditioning Association website (nsca.com) can purchase study materials.
Consisting of four parts, the certification exam analyzes the candidate’s knowledge in client consultation/fitness assessment, exercise techniques, program planning, and safety/emergency issues. The three-hour test contains 150 written questions. Furthermore, candidates can take it online or in a paper/pencil format.
Certified personal trainers possess a number of skills that demonstrate their expertise in health and fitness. They know the best ways to produce customized exercise programs and how to react if clients require emergency medical attention. Moreover, certified trainers understand how to refer clients to proper medical professionals if needed.
