INTRODUCTION
Ireland, also known as Republic of Ireland is a country in the European Union. Its capital city is Dublin, a beautiful city located in the east of the island.

It has got an oceanic climate, mild but with strong winds. Its temperatures vary from 4 to 7 C in Winter, to 14-16 in summer. It is a wet climate full of gorgeous, green sceneries.

These friendly Little elfish men are the typical image of Ireland and belong to Irish popular folklore. They are part of the countrys mythology, full of Celtic myths, fairies and Midland creatures.Legend has it that leprechauns have lived in Ireland far back in time, previous to Celtic people. They are associated with good luck.

TRADITIONS
Saint Patricks Day
It is a cultural and religious public holiday celebrated on 17 March. It is named after Saint Patrick , the most commonly recognised of the patron saints of Ireland. Green ribbons and shamrock are worn in its celebration.
Gaelic Football and Hurling
These are the most popular field sports in Ireland.
Gaelic football is a mixture of football, rugby and handball and hurling is similar to grass hockey.

EDUCATION
Irish Education System is very efficient. Education is compulsory between the ages of five and sixteen years. There are three levels:
- Primary Education (age 5 12)- Secondary Education (age 12 18)- Higher Education
Education in Ireland is free at all levels. Students wear uniforms to school.

RELIGIONS
95% of the Irish population are catholics, and just 4% are protestants. Some celebrations, like Halloween and Christmas, are celebrated with many traditions that belong to the old Celtic pagan calendar.Halloween is celebrated on November the 1st.Christmas is the most popular religious event, although its celebration adds and combines some Celtic traditional elements.
