Research and PlanningMy research and planning skills have improved massively from my prelim to my final product, this is because for my prelim I only went through 3 steps which were looking at range of professional magazines to consider layout, produce flat plans to get my ideas down and see roughly what my magazine would look like, then finally creating the magazine. However for my final product I did lots more research in order for my magazine to appear professional and appeal to a specific target audience. I did still produce flat plans though.

As you can see there is a great difference between the flat plans for the prelim and for the final product with more consideration for detail and appearance.

Research and Planning

• Other research for the final product I did that I did not do for the prelim was target audience research. I looked at reader profiles for existing magazines that had a similar audience to mine such as Q and NME to see who my audience would be and what type of magazine would appeal to them. I also interviewed some of my classmates to further this.

Research and Planning

• Another bit of research missing from my prelim task was the location recees, model release forms, call sheets and hazard risk assessments, these made sure that I had the right models and location to provide the best images possible for my magazine.

Construction

As you can see between the prelim(left) and final magazine (right) there is a huge difference as the final product looks more professional and the prelim looks rushed and very basic.
