What have you learnt about technologies from the process of

constructing this product?

EVALUATION QUESTION 6.

Page 2: Evaluation question 6

Immediately I learnt the difficulty in capturing effective images on camera used and how hard it is to work around lighting/a small backdrop. I found it was important to make the subject feel comfortable and relaxed when taking photos because my 'shoots' often took well over 100 photos per page. I learnt the importance of 'good quality' photo taking equipment and also how relevant extra equipment such as monopods and tripods actually are when you're trying to create a photo that looks as though it belongs on any sort of professional cover, this was because for my draft photos I used an IPhone6 and no lighting, tripod etc. This became extremely obvious when I uploaded the images to Photoshop forediting, as nearly all my images were blurry, dark and slanted. For my final images I used a Canon SLR, but even with this I found that the lighting was sometimesdifficult to control and It took me a while to get to gripswith the focusing of my images, having said this myimages were of a very high quality even when zoomedin or distorted- reinforcing how important good equipment is. I really started to notice the difference in image quality and the importance of this once I was in Photoshop, where the Canon put the iPhone to shame in all areas.

PC’SI used an PC for my work and an IPhone 6 at various different times for just convenience rather than any sort of features that each possessed. I mainly used the IPhone and its apps e.g. Sound cloud, Blogger, Camera because it is just simpler in general and a lot more accessible for me. Windows was used to take all of my chosen images off of the Canon and at this point I worked my way through them all, deleting the poor ones and saving the ones with potential. I chose a PC over a Mac because I felt a lot more comfortable on a PC, and didn't want the compatibility and printing issues that came with a Mac to hinder my process.

I used Blogger throughout all of my coursework as a reference point and source for my work, whether this be in the research & development stage or creation. This enabled me to see my previous editions and adjust accordingly. It also meant I could revisit research/information I had gathered previously. I found it was a good way for me to record progress and is something I had not used before starting the course.

I used Keynote as a substitute to Powerpoint and Microsoft Word as I can access this on my phone and 'on the go'. This made my presentations look more professional- i thought it worked really well. It can also be hyperlinked to Blogger meaning that any presentations can easily be viewed through this platform.

Animoto is an animation feature that joins together images/short sentences to create a presentation. I used this throughout my work because it is simple to use. It is also clean looking when presenting and is an easy way to extend information about my magazine and the research i have conducted.

I used sound cloud frequently to link tracks and pieces of music of relevance to my blog, this worked well in places but I had many technical issues to do with copyrights and compatibility, overall though it worked well as an addition to my blog to make it seem less one dimensional
