Evaluation Question 6 – What have you learnt about technologies

Photoshop – Front CoverI started the front cover by making this back ground using Photoshop. I used the magic wand and rubber tool to cut the image out. I have also used rectangle to create the black background and red banner. I have also used a brush tool to give a red glow effect to the background. I finally added text and used the pen tool to create the particle effect next to the masthead of the background. I have used these tools as it fits the house style of the magazine making it look professional. The use of large text and bright red glow effects makes the cover stand out and therefore attracts the target audience.

Photoshop – Front CoverI have now added cover lines to the front cover, I have done this using the text tool. I have used bright colours and a bold font as this makes the cover lines stand out and therefore should attract the target audience. I have also added particles and other effects in the background using the pen tool; as this makes the magazine look more professional as it is more detailed and does not look plain or boring. This therefore attracts the target audience as they will be more likely to buy a good looking, professional magazine than a magazine which looks bare or plain.

Photoshop – Front CoverTo finish the magazines front cover I have added the main cover line. This cover line must stand out from the rest of the front cover as this is what the target audience will look at and see if they are interested in the magazine. Therefore to do this I have used larger text than the other cover lines and also used a gradient to make the cover line stand out to ensure this attracts the audiences attention. It also keeps within the house style of the magazine meaning the magazine still looks professional. I have also added a small bar code in the bottom left corner of the magazine as this uses the rule of thirds so it is not noticed but ensures the magazine look professional and gives the audience details on how much the magazine costs meaning they are more likely to buy it.

Photoshop – ContentsI have again started the contents page by first making the entire background of the page. I have used the rectangles and brush effect from the front cover as this ensures there is a consistent house style through out the magazine. This makes the magazine look professional and therefore attrcats the attention of the target audience. I have then changed the masthead to read contents so the audience knows what this page includes. I have then added a large red rectangle onto the background as this is where some text and information will later be added.

Photoshop – ContentsI have now added some text to the large red rectangle I had previously added. I have used a bold powerful font as this stands out from the font in other magazine and therefore will attract the target audience. I also feel this font is fitting to the sub-genre of music as this bold font is used by some of the artists to feature in my magazine, this therefore allows the magazine to appeal to the target audience. I have then added large page numbers next to the text; as this a feature often used in real magazines, it allows my target audience access the page they want to with ease and therefore helps make the magazine appeal to the target audience.

Photoshop – ContentsI have now added images to the contents page which have simply been cropped using the crop tool. These help show the target audience what the magazine includes in a interactive way. This helps the magazine attract the target audience as they will see images of artists they are interested in and therefore want to read on to see what has been written about there favourite artists. I have also added large page numbers to the images which have a futuristic font. These appeal to the target audience as they relate to the music and therefore will attract the target audience to the magazine. It also helps show where the articles can be found in a interesting way.

Photoshop – ContentsTo finish the contents page I have added a small section of text at the bottom of the page. This makes the magazine look professional as no space has been wasted, the text also relates to what the target audience will be interested about and therefore encourages them to further read the magazine. I have also used red rectangles to separate the text from the rest of the page. This attracts the reader as it again keeps within the house style and therefore appeals to and attracts the target audience as it helps show the magazine is a professional piece of work.

InDesign- Double Page SpreadTo start the double page spread I used Photoshop to create a black background and using the magic wand and rubber cut out the image. This allows me to use a background and colours which will keep a consistent house style making the magazine look professional and therefore creates a greater appeal to the target audience. I also used the same text from the front cover as this also keeps a consistent houses. I did this by simply duplicating the layer and then pasting it on to the double page spread. This ensures the text stays exactly the same.

InDesign- Double Page SpreadI have now used InDesign to add the text to the double page spread. This is because in InDesign you have greater control over the text than in other programmes such as Photoshop. Using in design I was able to add columns and keep a consistent house style. This makes the page look more professional and have a greater appeal to the target audience.

Slideshare and Prezi – Presenting my WorkTo present my work I have used a rang of technologies; these include Prezi, Slideshare and PowerPoint, as these allow me to present my work in a range of interactive ways.

Prezi allows me to give detailed analysis of my work in interesting ways therefore I have used this device to present quite a lot of my work.

Slideshare is another way I can put word and PowerPoint documents onto my blog. This allows me to give more essay style updates to my blogs.
