Evaluation Question 3 - Feedback

Construction Feedback• Whenever we edited footage into our film, we would ask our peers for

constructive criticism and feedback on how we could improve the video.• This footage was one of the first scenes we shot and shows the band

performing the song.• We consulted our peers and teachers who made several suggestions on

how we could improve the film with small touches –• Steadying the footage - which we ratified with the stabilisation tool.• Images were to dark - we used the colour correction tools to enhance the

colours and tone of the image to brighten them.

Colour corrected images

Construction Feedback• We also got feedback by screening scenes and asking what directly what

could be improved.• One of the best examples was the ‘surgeon’ scene where the

overwhelming response we got, was that people were unsure of what was happening in the video and found it quite confusing.

• In response to this we took photos of the same person in the scene undergoing the surgical procedure, by drawing cutting lines on the face and placing a scalpel over them.

• We then edited these in with the opacity tool, over the footage so that it was much clearer to the audience of what we were trying to achieve.

Feedback through social media

• We also used social media to collect feedback.

• Facebook allowed us to create a page, where we could invite peers to see the finished project.

• From there people can see everything we have done and make any suggestions or comments they may have.

Feedback through social media

• Twitter was also a very useful social media site.

• It allowed us to promote our video and give people who were following our page the ability to link it to other people thereby allowing it to be spread around by fans.

• Twitter also enabled us to showcase our digi-pack and keep people up to date on the progress of our music video.

Digi-pack - Front cover• Our original intention was to have the word

‘CALIFORNICATION’ be the centre of the front cover and be surrounded by images.

• However this idea did not allow for particularly creative approach so we decided to change the design.

• We decided to put the two band members on the front cover, backed by the RHCP asterisk.

• Originally the background was white, but after receiving feedback we changed it to the brick background seen in our magazine advert.

• We kept the original title of the song and simply moved it to the side giving the centre of the album more focus while still clearly showing the name of the album

Back cover - Feedback

• For the back cover we had the idea to do something that was more creative rather than more images of the band.

• I had the idea of creating a red pepper out of a map of California, which links in with the general theme of the song as well as tying in with the bands name.

• We received lot’s of positive feedback for this piece with only minor adjustments being made to shading, and colour.

Final digi-pack - Feedback

• We designed the panels of the digi-pack to all link together in order to create a sense of continuity as advised by our teacher

• We used the brick wall background on all but one of the panels, we did this so as the imagery wouldn’t become dull or monotonous.

• We included the RHCP asterisk in every panel with an opaque effect, so the background images could be clearly seen.

Magazine advert - Feedback• We wanted to make the

magazine advert seem as authentic as possible and after looking at existing examples we incorporated standard features of an album magazine advert along with features of our products.

• We used the primary image of the album as the main image to create synergy.

• At the suggestion of our teacher we also included the record label logo, an image of the album, relevant dates and statements from music magazines.
