ANCILLARY TASK PEER FEEDBACK

After I was able to start my ancillary tasks, I created many drafts and asked my peers for feedback. We all done this together in our class as our opinions mattered to each and

every one of us. We did this by simply going to each others computers and looking at what every body had created themselves, we gave one another good feedback which outlined

the imperfections which could be improved on and the successes. The plan of action helped me to think much more creatively and have an open mind when looking at my

peers feedback. The feedback I reviewed was mixed, mainly targets to improve well small adjustments such as structure and the position of text e.t.c.

Overall the feedback from my fellow peers really did help me to improve my coursework, as well as gaining inspiration rom my other classmates work as this made it much more

realistic as to what you can achieve on digital technologies such as Photoshop. I was able to adapt these skills and techniques to my own work.

EXAMPLES OF PEER FEEDBACK

AUDIENCE RESEARCH FEEDBACKI created a questionnaire for my peer audience ranging from different ages and genders. This

was very important for my coursework as it enabled me to decide what kind of documentary style my audience would enjoy ranging from the main 4 styles- expository, reflexive, observational and interactive. I personally think it is extremely important to aim my

questionnaire at a variety of ages and genders as every different individual has a different opinion and interpretation of documentary that they have consumed by the media. It really interested my to see what kind of documentaries my audience preferred and to see weather

there was a specific mode. Despite the fact my documentary is aimed at teenagers and youths in general who are or have perhaps been affected by drugs, to make them aware of the

consequences and inevitably to stop them, my audience is also the general public. I think that getting this message and warning out to the public about the effects of harmful drugs is exceptionally important to do as everybody may be affected by the abuse of drugs in an

interactive way or a reflective way.

I wanted my target audience of young adults to be happy with the final piece, so I did value their opinions a lot in the documentary style decision making as I think this has the greatest

impact upon its audience as the structure and the way the context is presented helps the audience to engage more. It was very helpful to have their advice and opinion at this very early decision making stage. The feedback I received from my peers helped me to improve my final pieces as I referred to my audience feedback when I wasn't sure about an idea- this helped me

meet the needs of my audience, creating a more successful outcome.

AUDIENCE FEEDBACK I RECEIVEDHere are some of the answers I received from my

documentary questionnaire. I took these all into consideration when choosing my documentaries genre and story line due to my audiences overall opinion. I chose to have more transitions rather than just straight jump cuts to different scenes to help make the story flow better and more fluently. I chose to go with the style of ’24 Hours in A&E’ as this involves a lot of interviews which are speaking of medical issues- much like the story line and construction of my documentary. The use of intense sound also helped to create a sense of tension which aligns itself with the quotes of answers I received from my documentary questionnaire as my audience said they would like to hear tense sounds to convey the story more. My feedback enabled me to understand that my audience are more concerned about meaning as opposed to following famous people around their town for entertainment- a documentary should be factual and have pure meaning based upon real life events or to convey a particular message or idea.

OVERALLThe feedback I received on my ancillary texts was extremely useful as it enabled me to alter my coursework and put my peers advise into action. This helped my create a much more successful outcome than my first drafts. By making small amendments and alterations to my poster and finishing and correcting my double page spread, it allowed me to recognise the difference between before and after and how much more sophisticated it looks. I learnt how to improve my work using online tutorials to increase my photoshop skills. I learnt that my advertisement needs to be as effective as can be- I achieved this through creating a dark smoky background/silhouette in front of my models face and around the smaller images. I blended images together using the rubber on a low occupacity, not necessarily neatly, to create a broken, mysterious interpretation to the audience. This created an eery effect which I thought my audience would approve of due to their fondness of intensity.

The feedback I received on my documentary planning enabled me to give the majority of the audience what they preferred to see in a documentary. Their opinions were very important to me to enhance he reality of my documentary and really develop and have an understanding of what creating moving image is like in the real world.
