UNIVERSAL PICTURES

• It is ranked as one of the big six film studios of Hollywood.• They specialise in films of thriller genre and have backed up a lot of

movies in thriller. • They have distributed many successful films like; ‘Psycho’, ‘The

boy next door’ and ‘The watcher’. • All these films have a similar storyline to our thriller opening.• Distributing our product through universal will allow us to aim for a

wider target audience and many more people will be able to see it.

WARP FILMS• They produce and distribute movies in the UK. The types of movies they

produce are realistic and the events are everyday life which the audience can relate too.

• It’s an independent media institution based in Sheffield, London.• As compared to universal they are a very small production company

whose work is not spread worldwide. • This company might distribute our product in England because our

settings is everyday life as they use in their films. • They try to avoid use of many different genres and make very less

movies in thriller genre.

Page 4: Evaluation Question 3

Overall, I came to a conclusion that our movie will be distributed by Universal pictures as they are a major institution which will allow our product to be viewed worldwide, giving it more audience. Also, Universal distribute movies which meet all the codes and conventions and as our movie is a mainstream product similar what is expected in a thriller it is more likely to be distributed by universal. However, it will be made by an independent institution like Warp films as there movies are set in everyday life settings and as our movie meets all the codes and conventions of thriller films it makes an ideal film for the Warp. Being made by the warp it will attract more audience in England as it would be relatable for the audience like all the other films made by warp. Its made by a company that deals with the realistic things and our product also challenges social groups and ethnicity. Therefore, it will be distributed by a major company as our product meets all the codes and convention for a thriller.
