How effective is the combination of your

main product and ancillary texts?

I feel that my three products work well together in the way

that…

Page 7: Evaluation Question 2

My poster and article use the same picture as the main image, this photograph is also part of our stop frame

animation film. This ties the three together greatly as the photograph is the first thing seen on the poster and article and it is the last photograph of our film and will therefore

be stuck in the audience’s minds.

Page 8: Evaluation Question 2

My poster and article can be related in the way that they both incorporate the same tag line – “A small plastic dog with a big plastic heart”. I think that this tag line is original and therefore the two

will be remembered by the reader/viewer.

Page 9: Evaluation Question 2

Both the poster and the film review article are mainly made up of black text, however they both

incorporate a small amount of red text amongst the black. I think that this links them together in the way that the red is small yet noticeable on both

products.

I have ensured that all three of my products will attract my

target audience in the ways that…

Page 11: Evaluation Question 2

I feel that my short film will attract my target audience of families (Parents and their children) as

it shows the story of a toy travelling through a house to get back to his owner. This is something

that children can relate to, and even adults, because everybody at some point has had a toy

that they loved.

Page 12: Evaluation Question 2

My target audience will be attracted to my film poster as it shows the small toy dog being held by his owner.

This will appeal to children as it shows the love between the two characters which, again, they cam relate to. It would appeal to the children’s parents in the way that it uses the tag line “A small plastic dog

with a big plastic heart”, and this suggests that there will be a strong moral about love and friendship

throughout and this is something that parent’s like their children to learn.

Page 13: Evaluation Question 2

My film review article will mainly attract the parents as it incorporates a lot of text, which will be difficult for a child to read. It will appeal to adults as

it shows a detailed review of the film itself and relevant information such as director, release date etc. A person considering going to see this film will find this article very interesting. A child would be interested in looking at the many pictures that I

have included in the article as they show scenes in the film and children are attracted to bright colour

also.

Page 14: Evaluation Question 2

In my opinion, my film poster and short film are my strongest products as they look professional, would attract my target audience and have

both received very positive feedback. My film review article, I feel, is my weaker product as it does not look like a professional article that you

would find in a magazine. If I could change my article I would incorporate different images because the two smaller images that I have used are not the best quality photographs that I could have used as they are slightly out of focus. I would also include more text in the review as it seems to be rather short when compared with the film reviews found

on rottentomatoes.com.

Page 15: Evaluation Question 2

I think that my film poster promotes my short film effectively. When compared to a Hollywood film poster, my poster seems to

have followed many of the same conventions such as a main image that covers the full page, a tag line in smaller text, a large film title and film information at the bottom of the page in small

text.

Page 16: Evaluation Question 2

I also think that my film article does an effective job at promoting my short film.

Much like a film review from empire magazine, my article includes the use of a large main title, a ‘verdict’ section, an ‘information’ section and a large main

image.
