Am to pm by Christina Milian about her sneaking out to go to a party. This shows a clear narrative. I used a clear narrative for my own music video.

Her outfit changed represented her as being the same as every other teenage girl dancing around in their room.

Shows her getting ready to sneak out which makes her relatable to other teenage girls who have snuck out. I made my artist relatable by making my narrative about a break up.

She dances which shows the performance side to the video and is probably used for entertainment purposes.

Taylor Swift – I knew you were trouble

She shows flashbacks of her relationship and why they ended up breaking up. This is a clear narrative. This makes her relatable to teenage girls who have probably have gone through the same thing. I decided to use the idea of flash back to tell the story of my music video but I'm using one flask back not mini ones.

This is an example of a low angle shot, I used a similar shot to this in my music video where Monetté is with her two friends in the park.

I am going to use a similar shot this in my music video as I will be using a close up to show the audience the emotion that Monetté is feeling.

In the beginning of the music video there is an establishing shot to show the location of the video, which is a car garage.

The narrative of the music video becomes clear as Rhianna fixes the car and later uses it in the car race.

Rhianna changes her outfit to show another part to the narrative.

Where have I followed these

conventions?

I used an establishing shot at the beginning to show the location and to make it clear that the narrative will be about a journey.

I showed the second outfit change that Monetté has I also showed her in a comfortable environment with her friends.

I used a close up so the audience will be able to connect with Monetté. It also makes the audience sympathise with her.

I used a tracking shot because I wanted the audience to feel like they were on the journey with Monetté.

I used the performance element of Monetté playing the guitar, as I wanted the audience to feel like they were being told the story.

Where have a challenged the conventions?

I didn’t sexaulise my artist I wanted the focus to be on the and not her body.

I decided not to put my artist in the middle because I wanted to link the video to the theme of isolation.

I represented my artist as being strong because I wanted the audience to see the independent side to her.

What real media products inspired me?

As Adele has similar values to my artist, I decided that I would use her album cover as a template for my digi-pack.

On the homepage of Nicki Minaj’s website she has a slide show, I decided this was an aspect I wanted to use on my website.

The story line in this music video inspired me as it is something similar to the vision that I had. In this video Fergie leaves her companion which is what Monetté does in my music video. I studied the way that the storyline was portrayed and put my own interpretation on the storyline of Waste My Emotions.

Touch My Body – Mariah Carey

I used these shots from touch my body in my music video because it was a critical point in my music video. This would show the first time Monetté shows her strength as this would be the scene where she leaves Jason. The audience will be able to connect with Monetté and it will also engage them because it’s a happy ending for her.
