EVALUATION QUESTION 7)LOOKING BACK AT YOUR PRELIMINARY TASK WHAT DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE LEARNT

IN THE PROGRESSION FROM IT TO THE FULL PRODUCT

PRELIMINARY VS FINISHED PRODUCT

In my opinion my preliminary was absolutely terrible had no music, the actors were ok, shots quality half of the time was bad, some footage went missing so I had to re-film it, my editing skills were terrible at that time.

On the other hand; final product ended well, good use of music, had better actors, shots quality was consistent, no footage went missing, and I edited the final product pretty well.

There is a large difference between the preliminary task and the final product.

FILMING

• While filming my preliminary I had to use a second camera for the re-film as the first camera lost my the filmed footage and the shot quality was terrible (half of the time), I had used a tripod but in some shots the camera is handheld and the shot end up shaky.

• In the actual film there is handheld shots but the shots end up being alright and the shots that were filmed shaky were on purpose, for pov or to indicate distress and disruption.

EDITING AND LIGHTING• In the preliminary my editing skills were terrible, I didn’t cut at right time so some of the shots had 1 or

2 seconds of extra footage that was useless, to credits or music added. Very simple and basic product.

• I’ve used the natural lighting given of by sun or light bulb I didn’t manipulate lighting in anyway.

• The editing in the product is wonderful, shots perfectly trimmed, refined and added together, good use of fades and other special effects, added music that fitted action in scene, music fades in and out, loud and/or quiet at some time, credit titles added.

• We had to manipulate the light in some shots to make it look a certain time a day, e.g. the 8’a scene was filmed around 1:00pm we had to block the light coming from the window, in my editing program I’ve also added colours and brightness as well as decreasing the brightness levels and contras of colours.

CONTINUITY

• In the preliminary I have a continuity where one of the actors (me) is wearing a T-shirt in one shot and in the next you see that actor wearing a hoody. Such a silly and simple mistake.

• In the final product I’ve spotted 0 continuity issues, the planning of filming was flawless and we were carefully looking each shot for mistakes.
