USING PHOTOSHOP

TEXT TOOL

What? A tool that enables me to insert writing anywhere

Why? To use writing in my magazine

Where? Every page I created as they all needed text

Problems? I encountered none

Essential? Yes, I couldn’t have produced my magazine without using the text tool.

The text tools were relatively similar on Photoshop and Publisher. Because I had

used Publisher, Word and Powerpoint before producing my magazine on Photoshop, I was able to use the

Photoshop text tool but only minimally as there were a few minor alterations.

CROP TOOL

What? A tool that enables me to select parts to cut out

Why? To remove unneeded additions which may distract or diminish the attractiveness

Where? Front cover image, DPS image

Problems? I encountered none

Essential? No, without the crop tool I could have managed, however it would have been inconvenient

CROP TOOL ON COLLEGE MAGAZINEThe crop tool on Photoshop gave me the option of selecting a specific size to crop

an object to. All I had to do was type in the measurements of my desired size and it

would do it for me. However, on Publisher I was not given this option and had to just estimate. Therefore, some of the images

are not the size I had hoped for.

RULER TOOLWhat? A tool that enables me to

measure and line up elements.

Why? So that everything look symmetrical and professional

Problems? I encountered none

Essential? It was not urgent but without it I feel my work wouldn’t look

as skilled or neat

Publisher did not give me the option of a ruler tool. Because of this, I encountered a

few implications. My images, masthead and cover lines were not parallel to each other. Due to this, my college magazine

was made to look amateurish.

SPOT HEALING TOOL

What? A tool that removes spots and blemishes from the skin

Why? So that the skin is clear and brushed up like real magazines do

Where? On most images in my magazines

Problems? It didn’t always work to its full potential as I am notvery experienced using it

Essential? Definitely not an essential tool but it boosted the appeal

SPOT HEALING TOOL ON COLLEGE MAGAZINE

Again, Publisher is not as advanced as Photoshop and I was not given the option

of a spot healing tool. If I were to have produced my preliminary task magazine in Photoshop, I would have used it. However, I didn’t and therefore wasn’t able to reap

the benefits of the spot healing tool.

SO OVERALL, WHAT WAS ACHIEVED?

The credibility of my final magazine was boosted

My final magazine looks more professional

The appeal and attraction is improved

I have learnt to use these tools and can continue to do so
